They were very clearly understeering harder in Austria than recently. It's highly likely they have sacrificed more downforce than others to get some top speed around here.
It was harder for all the cars, I think they are trying to brake into the corner more than the cars are happy to do, I think the cars are happy scrubbing the speed outside of the corner. That seemed to be a general thing, but then McLaren had their own issue on top with what I can only assume is overheating.

I'm not sure why Lando is confident that in the race it will be better. Perhaps because the laps are slower and less stress on the brakes in general but that suggests a very fine tolerance.
Maybe because they had a practice session in between to get around the issue.

I think so thats the silly thing about this practice still would be fun if they can change the cars after yesterday :)

I'm not so sure brake settings are covered by parc ferme, but if they are I'd imagine McLaren would argue to change/replace under safety grounds.

True true, this would probably do the trick. If that is the case then Landos assertion that there is pace in the car and that the brakes would be fixed for the race suggest we have reason to be hopeful.

If we can gain a few places in the sprint then we are in a decent position for the race. If... if....

In that sense I enjoy this sprint format because a bad qualifying doesn't mean your race is done, you have the chance to pull forward on the grid still.

Personally I'm not gonna watch the Sprint as I'm ill with Covid and tired to watch at the moment.

Why are they telling Dan to hold position again?

Still behind Alpine, Haas and Alfa Romeo (not closing the gap with Bottas) :|

Not bad, helped that Alonso didn't get any points.

Better positions for the race now though. Think we can get points in the race.

Just seem Bottas will have penalty tomorrow so 10/11 starts. Better then 15/16!

Decent pace there, shame that Daniel looks likely to receive a penalty for a start procedure infringement. Got a shot at some minor points tomorrow otherwise.

Was hoping for stronger results today. Never mind, may be tomorrow.

So sad to see McLaren go backwards yet again... Looks like the car has hit its peak, also RIC is doing absolutely nothing... we are going to be lucky if we end up in P5 at the end of the season.
