Ferrari F2012

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

Well, no wonder the team's been struggling; they're not even on the same page!

Seriously, though, I think the author of the F1 Times piece somehow just deduced medium-speed traction issues based on Fry's answers. The team's been pretty explicit about their low-speed woes since Day 1. I think the results bear that out, too, because the F2012 has been strongest in situations where a softer than usual setup is optimal, e.g., rain in Malaysia and Monaco's normal nasty self.

That said, the F2012 does have tire wear issues, but I think they're just symptomatic of the main problems.
Yep, this weekend will answer a lot of questions about the car (or not as the case may be in this modern random world of F1)

I have summarized the F2012 pre season exhaust evolution here  link

There were at least nine different specs and i can not recall nothing similar from past . A really unique and extreme approach by a Formula 1 team , at least so far .
Future is like walking into past......

I see what they say, but I think that's the Spain/Monaco spec.

Re: Ferrari F2012

Every time I see something from MArca (and simmilar ones) and their so-called journalism, I have to btie my tonge.

But this time I can't... :

"La falta de apoyo en la zona trasera obligó a buscarlo en la forma tradicional: poniendo un alerón mayor "

Literally, "lack of downforce forced to look for it the traditional way: with a bigger wing".

Now I hope Red Bull and Mclaren don't get to know about it... uou! A bigger wing...! And those race stewards, always sleeping... they notice nothing.

Ok, of course they meant more rear wing, not bigger, but hwhat they wrote is completely different.

True as well; this is a small example, normally they are much worst.

Now having said that, from the pic it would look (to me) as if the air exit on top/before the exhaust exit was bigger , in fact so much bigger that it could well be that there's justa a piece of bodywork missing. If that's not the case, it would make sense to me that this was intended to channel/attach the exhaust gasses downwards. It would depend on the pressure/speed differential with the air coming from the top; if that makes sense when explained like this...

The only difference I can see is around the right FWEP, and that's just perspective isn't it?

maybe it is just an angle, but it looks to me like those two have different size of flap...

Re: Ferrari F2012

look at the nuber bearing in the FW one says 5 nd another is numbered with 6/. so does it means that they bring slightly different FW for their two driver, with their own preference....

may be one suited more to alonso and massa prefer other one, so two different version of FW.

Or well it could be same but due to different angle it looks different. :D

I think so yes. The top element is smaller on the top wing versus the bottom. I don't think that difference is perspective.

if you look at the nose of the bottom fw u can see a lot more of the top part of the nose....so i think its purely perspective...also there might be slightly different fw angle...

edit: actually there might be slightly different shape on the outer part of the top flap...

Looks to me like the top one is clearly using a much smaller main flap, or significantly reduced angle compared to the bottom.

Nothing different there other than the camera angle.
