Watching Vettlel`s onboard due to nighttime of qualifying dashbord can be clearly seen. All four tires are overheating trough the entire lap. They sacrifice tire life for better Q performance and hoping that can`t be overtaken on this city track. For me this is not sustainable car development - this is just bad performance management. This can work on track like Monza and Singapore but there are still 17 - 18 races. Redbull is facing two unsuitable tracks in a row like Spa and Monza and now Ferrari`s are doing some tricks in Singapore... Let`s not loose hope and wait till tomorrow .... Bottas is 1 sec behind pole also...

Just mention before we get too morose about the car improving, Max qualli last year was 1:36.334, this year 1:36.813. So the looked for 'improvement' may be a red herring.

(Ham 1:36.015 and 1:36.408- Seb 1:36.628 1:36.437)
When arguing with a fool, be sure the other person is not doing the same thing.

Everyone was on the same boat more or less. These soft are done after one lap or worse within a lap. Maybe Merc under Hamilton can get good race runs but everyone else is on the same boat. Max himself said this GP was 95% quali and then a procession of a race after few laps.
Expect a carnage at the opening lap and then a dull race after. Albon will be a sitting duck for a fast starting Sainz tomorrow. As for Max, P3 is his best shot unless both Leclrec and Hamilton take each other out.

Reading too much into lap times.
The hypersofts are faster than then current softs. So all things being equal you could say the top teams haven’t made much gains. In fact the car may be .3sec quicker but the tire accounts for a .5s/.6s loss. It just means TR and MCL have gained more than just the 1sec. If you include the tire time loss you can put their improvement to 1.5s which is v much in line with other circuits

It's hard to be optimistic right now, Ferrari have owned everyone today.
Why be pessimistic?

Ferrari should be congratulated for doing the best job!

Clearly Red Bull - Honda is not good enough in qualifying at Singapore. Perhaps the blame is mainly on Honda side for lack of power...? Or chassis is losing time too? Who knows, anyhow nothing wrong with Ferrari winning by doing the best job. :)
I prefer the team effort philosophy. You win together you lose together.

Honda are doing everything they can.

The pain is hard to swallow being a Honda fan. All we want is for them to succeed. Last 4 years was says everything isnt enough. Its so frustating when hopes are built up and then have it backfire in the most unusual twist. The driveability out of traction corner is very bad and that is where the car is struggling.
Not sure where you saw that, drivability out of the corners was excellent today actually. The car simply lacks grip compared to last year and its down to the front wing changes.

RB15 is half a second down from RB14, while TR gained nearly 0.9 sec.
Toro Rosso has an outwash front wing, Red Bull does not. Red Bull's front wing is not even a halfway house, it is slightly cutaway at the outer top element and endplate from the Austria upgrade, but this is minimal compared to other cars.

Maybe an outwash front wing (together with a well-designed cape as Ferrari have just debuted to great results) is the best solution for 2019 regulations front tyre wake management after all.

I doudt that the drivability is the problem. There are probably a few little things that the Ferrari does better that add up to something. 1 of them is more power.

Think you don't understand how hard it is to beat Merc and Ferrari.

Yes, but the microphones can not really catch it. The Honda sometimes has crazy misfires, one Torro Rosso had a misfire in FP3 after Raffles you could hear through half the city. Sounded like someone shot a rifle....can not be good for engine life.
In general the RedBull sounded much cleaner, seems to me as if they run the engine on the Torro much more aggressive to test what it can survive....

Power! Really? This track there is barely any straights. Its got more corners than Monaco. Look at how quickly the competition drives off from low gear acute apex corners. Toro Rosso as a reference is further corroboration as they should have been Q3 contenders with the high downforce setup.
R u saying you understand how to beat Ferrari and Merc?

I also think in that way. Ferrari already know that they are 3d team here and they are 3d anyway. So why not a qualifying shot...

Isn’t this the same we saw in the 3 previous races? Mercedes with the better race setup, hunting the polesitter. Must be a good race to view than.

You mean the off throttle sound Honda and Renault engines do? This is not meant here, it is the crazy bangs sometimes especially on charging laps.
