P7 and P9 after qualifying P15 and P16 is a very good result, happy with that!

Daniel has been fine. No complaints this race.
Not great, not terrible, a decent performance.

We are tied with Renault unless Alonso gets a penalty for that unsafe release.

For Daniel that was an ok performance though I would prefer if he could have done a little better. Shouldn't they perhaps try strategies of one pit stop with him like Alonso and Perez does?

Paul Ricard and Hungaroring should suit the Mclaren characteristics. Im hoping that is the case.

Specially considering that this was a track where we expected the Team to struggle a lot… Top speeds weren’t an issue even without DRS, I kept watching live timing and the top speeds weren’t uncompetitive… Maybe the car loss a bit in terms of downforce to achieve it, but hopefully they are starting to find more DF from the floor and allowed to run smaller wings and shed some drag… It is also good considering that the consensus is that the Mercedes engine is a bit lacking (and Lando was using his old engine an old engine from the pool).

There is still a big gap to the top 2, but in regards to the midfield, they are in thick of it

Next year should be the big gamble as the team will have both Wind Tunnel and Simulator ready and up to date with the latest upgrade. There should be no excuses as Zak Brown said next year.

That's for 2024 not for next year. By the time the simulator and the wind tunnel is ready the 2023 car will have been already fully developed.

The higher altitude of the Red Bull Ring probably helped mitigate some of the drag penalty, but it's all relative to the competition. The car looked really quick in the second half of the lap where downforce was needed, so car still has plenty of it.

That is true for the first race but then they could always bring better quality updates on par with Mercedes, Red Bull and Ferrari with the new Tunnel and Simulator.

I think it shows tge car isn't as bad as some of the mass overreactions we've seen.

It's not great but it's not bad.

The car seems to have fixed it's weaknesses of slow and medium corners, kept it's speed on high speed corners but lost his straight line speed. I have a feeling that the car will gain a huge amount of time if they manage to fix that drag issue.

Q: (Stefano Mancini – La Stampa) Kimi, will you help Vettel to win his championship this year?

That is what I'm saying. While the car might be designed with the old tunnel and simulator, it will definately have its better quality upgrades with the new structures.

Track limits should have some leniency
Why? If the race notes indicate that Track Limits will be enforced in certain turns, it is up to the drivers to make sure they comply with it.

Driver’s also have to infringe track limits 3 times to get a black and white flag and a forth time to get a penalty… There is no reason to not enforce them properly.
No issues with track limits incurring a penalty, but on the same level as running another car of the road? Causing a collision which could severely compromise, or even end another drivers race? F1 has the most unbalanced rule books in the history of rule books.

Only caveat being the old wind tunnel data won't necessarily marry with the new one. Any benefit might not be seen until 2024.
