If Daniel doesn't get his act together then in my opinion they should bring back Fernando Alonso as I think that 3rd time's the charm or get Sebastian Vettel.
I love Fernando, always have, but not sure he’s what we need. No doubting his abilities, he’s still got it, but McLaren need to think long term partnership and synergy. Definitely not Seb, he’s a spent force.
Q: (Stefano Mancini – La Stampa) Kimi, will you help Vettel to win his championship this year?
Kimi Raikkonen: I can only drive one car, obviously.

Why Ric Boy has only 1 Medium & 1Hard...it will limit strategy options
fastest predicted strategy is one stopper anyway.

Agree - we need to build the team around Lando more now as the clear #1 similar to RBR and get a reliable experienced driver to play the "supporting" role - I would rather try and get someone like Bottas or even get Sainz back. Getting a youngster might be detrimental in the short term with a tight midfield.

If everything goes to plan, but it is a high deg track and it's hot, so if they flat spot or have to fight too much it won't take much for it to be a two stopper, I feel that there is a very good chance of many cars going to two stop.

Yes, he would take the focus off Lando, and he is thriving in it. Let him enjoy the limelight and develop withot looking over his shoulder until he knows he is good enough.

Problem is the pit was extended this year, the pit loss is now a extra 5 seconds..so a 27sec pit time, hopefully I’m wrong and we get a mix up :). I think the outlaps will be super essential today, bringing in the fronts gently. especially with these long corners and heat.

I had not considered that. So a stop under a safety can actually gain positions?

I didn't mention it but I factored it in. What benefits this track is that overtaking is easier, track position is not so important and DRS is powerful so I'm certain we will see a few two stoppers and I'm thinking it might be a more popular strategy than that. But I think it will be a very good race either way, I'd just rather see racing than tyre management which a one stop will need a lot of to make it work.

Given how easily cars have been lost with tailwinds I also think there are going to be some tyres ruined, forcing the situatiion.

Let's go team. Good luck, a clear start and a good race.
You got to admit that Fernando Alonso is an F1 God in terms of racing. Hopefully now that he is out of DRS we can catch him. It seems for now the Alpines are very little slightly faster.

Danny Ric seems to be struggling.

Agree, Alpine still a little bit quicker. I think RIC pace is more representative of the performance of the car (in Renault he was ahead of Ocon), NOR has something special, very impressive.
SAI is coming and HAAS could be fast with a different strategy.

Well you could also say that Alonso is something special as Ocon is nowhere near Lando and I don't think that Ricciardo is representative of the car's performance.

I have a feeling that if Lando was in front of Alonso he would have stayed in front as the cars as similar in performance.

Let's see now at the restart after Safety Car what Lando can do against Alonso.

Yes think that ALO and NOR are doing very well. If Alpine and Mclaren were faster than what RIC and OCO shows , Lando and Alonso should be fighting with Mercedes and quite close to Ferrari and Redbull. Just my opinion.
