I think this says it the best. The delays were a result because 'it might' rain heavily. So we've gone from red flagging sessions due to monsoon conditions, to red flagging sessions in case it turns into a monsoon. =D>Lorenzo_Bandini wrote:They delay because Whithing expect a huge shower during the next minutes

I think that is not fair, because Q2 should be raced 5 minutes after Q1 under rules. It's not fair to teams to have extra time 24h almost to fix or change car parts or make changes in setup, when cars in Q1 ended their qualies without that.Mika1 wrote:I think Hamilton won't be unhappy with this delay. Now they have enough time to repair/set-up the car.
Are the teams not under parc fermé conditions?Neno wrote:I think that is not fair, because Q2 should be raced 5 minutes after Q1 under rules. Someone from mercedes when talking to sky sports reporter said that the time to change the rear wing changes took about 2 minutes..They had fixed it even before the q2 delay by 10 min was announced..Neno wrote:I think that is not fair, because Q2 should be raced 5 minutes after Q1 under rules. its not possible to change rear wing in two minutes, unless it's constructed and complete seperate from gearbox on who is going beam wing and rear wing. Rear wing is not front wing. Also his rear wing was not damaged that way that rear wing broke completly, it looked after kick in wall as one plate of rear wing was just loosen off and started going left-right.kris wrote:Someone from mercedes when talking to sky sports reporter said that the time to change the rear wing changes took about 2 minutes..They had fixed it even before the q2 delay by 10 min was announced..Neno wrote:I think that is not fair, because Q2 should be raced 5 minutes after Q1 under rules. I think it says more about the lack of confidence the FIA has in the Pirelli tyre - by not allowing the cars to run.stefan_ wrote:People trashing the FIA for today's (because today I feel that they were actually right) decision are simply ridiculous and probably never did any racing apart from Play Station or Xbox.
We saw a lot of 'snap oversteer' in what was really only light rain, certainly not like any Malaysian monsoon. So either Australian rain is too much for a cutting edge wet weather tyre - or the initial wet running scared the FIA into action? Perhaps the FIA was right after all.More driveability in the wet
Both the Cinturato™ tyres have changed as well, with the construction of the rear tyres reengineered in particular, so that they provide more progressive traction and better warm-up in wet conditions. This helps to reduce snap oversteer and so makes the handling of the car more linear.
Cinturato™ Blue Wet. In 2013 this tyre also benefits from a new construction. Like the intermediate, the rear tyres have been redesigned to offer more progressive traction and reduce snap oversteer, while maintaining the ability to evacuate 60 litres of water per second at top speed: six times more than a road car tyre which disperses about 10 litres per second at much lower speed. The characteristics of this tyre are now more closely aligned to those of the intermediate.
Their rear wing IS completely separate from their gearbox. There was a nice shot of one of the mechanics running to the garage carrying the new rear wing.Neno wrote:its not possible to change rear wing in two minutes, unless it's constructed and complete seperate from gearbox on who is going beam wing and rear wing.
