Primary issue is getting people home as safely as possible and dealing with the health issues.
A distant but interesting second place is observing the dysfunctional governance structure of Formula 1 and its lack of leadership. As of 3 hours before first practice, there are statements in the media that the race "will be" cancelled, but the Formula1.com site says nothing to that effect. FOM says the race won't continue due to 50% of the teams voting not to continue. Apparently the FOM has no willingness to say they are taking charge and cancelling it because then they wouldn't keep their sanction fee. Why is Formula 1 the only sport in the world that can't write functional contracts, negotiate through challenges, and be responsible for itself? I think the world is changing today due to the virus, but I also think F1 is changing today due to its refusal to have anyone be responsible for anything.
I don't know what comes next. I appreciate forums like this.
Was it so difficult to take that decision in the first place and go on with race normally?? Probably it seems...
I see!
But only six teams are in attendance. A 12 car field is not too bad I guess.
But again why would the drivers (seb kimi lewis) leave so early?? Not even an official announcement was out! If they weren't keen to race why did they go there in the first place then??
