Really a great drive, deserving of a win. He smashed his teammate today, absolutely smashed. Still 0.5sec off Max on race pace, just like it was during the COTA sprint race. So now we know for sure Max struggled with brakes at COTA grand prixand the Merc illegal ride height did not really bring any meaningful extra performance.

Fantastic drive from Lewis particularly the overtake partially on the grass and the tyre saving

19 pts into Checo for p2 in wdc, not that he probably cares about that. 20 pts gap with 3 races remaining - doable IMO

The car was not as good as I expected though - still 0.5s off RB despite the reduced effect of the drag the car carries

Mercedes was clearly 2nd fastest car in race trim though. A step above McLaren and definitely Ferrari.

Not sure we can say it was clearly a step above McLaren when you consider Norris was the fastest driver bar Verstappen after the red flag

Lewis was definitely not at full pace though, mindful of a late attack from Ferrari. He showed he had "fastest car on the track pace" with a fastest lap on his 37 laps old tyres.

Full agree. McLaren was quick, sure, but LH was on another level today. Definitely the 2nd fastest driver-car combination overall.

You cannot say that with certainty. Norris was faster overall after the start in free air except for the last few laps where there was nothing to gain for either. He also had to pass more drivers.

He was just managing the gap to Leclerc in that last stint. So yeah I agree he was never full beans.

Sure, but LH was conserving tyres for 20+ something laps.

Lewis had to manage scrubbed mediums for iirc 36 laps, he was simply managing tires the entire time and would have definitely had more pace, he pulled even more time on Leclerc at the end and then set the fastest lap on 30+ lap old mediums

It was close between McLaren and Mercedes, but Mercedes had the edge IMO.

When both were in clear air, Norris was basically matching Hamilton's delta times (mid-22s) but Hamilton in the last 5-10 laps showed he had plenty in reserve lapping consistently in the 21.9-22.2 range something which Norris never quite achieved IIRC.

And then the fastest lap in 21.3.
