Maldonado takes a gearbox penalty that sends him to the back of the grid. Apparently it's a result of the shenanigans as opposed to normal wear and tear. Guess he deserves it.

I was watching it on Sky F1, and one of them, I think Brundle, referred to the fact that it looked like a front left suspension problem which was exactly the same place that Maldonado hit and that it may have been linked...

Either way, having your steering not work on a circuit like Monaco must be a bit scary for the driver!
It looked like he clipped the barrier with the front left on the corner just before the chicane.

That's what I saw too. The video replay also seemed to show a puff of smoke just prior to contact. Like he'd briefly locked up the left while grazing the barrier.

From the Maldonado incident, it's a bit unclear but it seems he did hit Perez quite hard. But I'd thought he ran over Perez's front wing more than anything. But he certainly could've done some damage to the left front suspension too. His sidepod might have nudged Perez's wheel.

some people and even reputed sites like autosport have doubt whether this pole go as 69th pole or not coz of penalty

so to clear it, the penalty is for race grid position only
so he has pole for the quly session
which means he has his record books with 69th pole today =D>

Don't know how much you can see of it, but Schumacher's tyres looked fresh as a daisy when he got out.

Sorry for this question, but will MS' pole position count in the history books or because of the penalty it won't count as a "real" pole ?

Nope, it dosnt count, Webber gets pole as pole is awarded before the race.

massa suddenly on par with Alonso on a drivers circuit? Either we have a wrong idea what a drivers circuit is or some guys have lifted their reputations a fair bit today.

they will update the stats after the race only

Why do you think he was sitting on p1 after quly list/ even at the press conference he was sitting P1
which means he is P1....and the grid penalty is for race only

People draw parallel to what happened to Lewis at spain....but he was DSQed from the entire quly session there.

same with some of Kimi's 2005 penalty

same with Gearbox penalty

all are GRID penalties for race....nothing to do with qualifying statistics

Statistically he got pole in 2012 Monaco GP Qualifying

Monaco is about carying speed trough the corners, something Massa is quite good at.
