Useless to compare anything. Slipstream, drs, engine settings. Rosberg was ~10 kmh quicker than hamilton in the same car. That alone should be enough to end any speculation.Blackout wrote:Compared to last year"s Spanish GP qualifying, the Renault has the same Mercedes powered Lotus top speed
And Red Bull has its the same top speed too.
Has the Renault lost DF compared to the Merc E23? I dont think so. The RB12 has definitely more DF than the Renault but that doesnt explain the 10kmh difference. IMO
So the Renault might have a more powerful engine... or these numbers are no where near the truth (regarding RBR)...

Yeah, sure. Both drivers said that this car is a step forward and that's good, the package is totally new so I guess they still have to figure out how to extract best performance from it.Vasconia wrote:They have time to fix those problems, the important fact here is if the car is faster than last years design. Not sure how you know this; the new parts look impressive but there's really no firm data to suggest they even work as intended, let alone provide a big lap time improvement.Mclarettino wrote:I re-iterate, Mercedes will have increased the gap to Ferrari this season. Innovations in aerodynamics (serated barge boards, new type of S-duct), suspension (left right interconnected) and power unit (continuation of split turbo). Ferrari and the rest of the grid are in for a shock in Australia qualifying.
It would be interesting if the ACO would let them enter under Garage 56 rules, just to see how they'd fare. The biggest question for fans of both WEC & F1 would be their tyre choice & refueling- run in true F1 configuration with Pirelli and in-garage refueling or allow them the LMP1 tyre restriction , Michelin tyres and alter the car for fast pit lane refueling.Dann wrote:As one commented, due to their superb reliability, Merc cars are good enough to participate in LeMans race
Yes, so far it seems that the least reliable item in w07 is driver ... 3 x WC and runner up...Dann wrote:As one commented, due to their superb reliability, Merc cars are good enough to participate in LeMans race
