Red Bull RB19

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

Attention to detail by RB is great...
Loving how those experts always focus on external edge details, but fail to notice both 3rd and 4th elements are actually new on this mid-downforce front wing

It wasn't credited but those images are from Nicholas Carpentiers, his content is among the best if not the best in all of F1 photojournalism. Many of the tech images available from the past few years are from him, and he's practically the only one who makes collage/gallery images professionally outside of forums. Plus we get to learn place names in French.

That front wing from Melbourne looks identical to the Bahrain one to be fair (from my quick look). Bahrain was page 22 onwards of this thread for detailed pics.

Not really, green arrows show the movement of the leading edge of flap 4 relative to LE of flap 3, best observed on bottom images.

Is it me or are the cooling gills on the engine cover gone? Did they replace it with a larger hole at the back? What would be the advantage for such a change? So many questions

You know very well front wing flaps are not overlapping, I.e. there is no different profile when you look from the bottom. What you see is what you get here, so the green arrow does indicate a bigger area for the 3rd flap.

Hello Nicolas, I apologise, the illustration is not completely clear and only the image (without watermark) was posted here, not the full tweet. I appreciate your work. :)

Flaps are always overlapping, but only slightly (around 10-15mm at most), that was my point. It had to be another 3rd element and Nicolas cleared things up above.

From an interview with Matthew Somerfield on Missed Apex podcast at the weekend…
“It seems that the marshals have been warned not to lift the cars any more than is strictly necessary”…
… “I haven’t had ANY photos of ANY underfloor past my desk this year”…
