Aston Martin AMR24

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

Notice the paint on the front wing, when there wasn't in the past...taken some weight off the rest of the car so that now they can comfortably put paint on ?

They've changed the shape of that side pod at the back .... I drew straight red lines to show the curvature difference.

Yes I noticed that too. Let’s see what other changes we can spot

I drew a red line on the right of the sidepod to show a ridge and that the section to left of that ridge is lower.
They've also kept that flair out that used to be at the front to the very back near where the red line ends and that purple dip starts. It's much less pronounced though.

The added livery on the FW is part of the generation 3 campaign.

interesting that they have reverted back to cut/hole in floor edge. like during this season and last year
That type of cutout in the floor edge was introduced in Austin 2023 I believe and maintained for the launch spec AMR24, then removed with the Suzuka package and now reintroduced with this year's Austin package  Interesting that they've brought it back

Suzuka 2024 (removed)

Austin 2024 (introduced again)

Strange, they have the front a rear suspension circled but I see no reference to it.

New front wing. It looks like they have removed the notch introduced at Imola. Main plane has changed too

Inlets look slightly different or is it camera angle? They seem smaller

Top side surface of wings is not very interesting to check, nothing extraordinary can happen there since the pressure build-up forces the air upon all surfaces and through channels. Top side surfaces are sprayed and brush-painted with flow viz so it reaches underside of the next flap, which is what teams are most often looking at. In this case, there is fairly clean flow viz pattern on top side near the endplate, meaning they wanted to check this area. Flaps near the nose weren't interesting on top side as far as I can tell
And they call it a stall. A STALL!
