In the FP's we saw glimpses of a car with decent balance and pace. Unfortunately this was less visible in the qualy and race (at least for VER). Hopefully they have learned much to improve.

Yeah and they changed Max setup from FP3 to Q1. He would have better pace and be on a podium without this. Easily could have been worse today, with Lando winning. Its ok, 7 more races, i take every race as a damage limitiation. If Max brings the title home it would be his best one yet. But long way to go, but the car showed better pace today with Perez. Much better as in Monza. Some positive...

I thought Verstappen was gaining on Sainz until he got stucked behind Norris.

Sigh, great race from Checo. That was completely Sainz fault at the end.

also I don't understand why not to undercut Norris when Max was in his gearbox ? he would have been ahead with much fresher tyres, maybe a better position to defend later in the race

Perez had a great race and was in a position win. Whatever they tried on the car is an improvement. Max had the jumping problem so it was never going to be a great day. They only lost 4 points if I'm not mistaken?

3 pts I think? Max scores 10 and Lando 13

Yeah Perez's pace is indicative that they can recover this car back to form

Not the best weekend for Max. but 3 points loss to Lando is helpful. But needed to optimise that when lando was on the back of the grid P17 and extending the gap.

Perez very unlucky to be wiped out by Sainz. He drove a faultless race today.
Max cannot have races where he loses 3 points if Norris starts P15. He still has a gap but any mistake and it's going to be cut down heavily.

Perez never was in a position to win. He couldn't overtake, the car was way too slow on straights. But he had a very good GP until Sainz suicided his car against him.

Not saying he was going to pass, but his car was there with the best of the Mclarens and the Ferraris. Tire deg was good for him. That is enough to show there is progress with improving the car.

When was the last time, the championship leader and his direct challenger not winning the races and others around are making hay. Especially, the championship leader not winning a race for 7 races and still leading.

Agreed but he was in good position to secure 2nd place... sigh it is what it is.

The car looks much better. They now just to give Max something similar (and not make any crazy changes). The RB20 may make one last comeback in the last 4-5 races.

but are we sure Checo and Max had different setup ? We know that Max cut some DF off after FP3, still he was on a different setup ?

Max's car was jumping. It's something mechanical that was changed.

Clearly a terrible setup change for max cost him points today. But future is brighter than before this race I'd say. New floor experiments have been a success
