Re the Kroymans Ferrari crash; a quick google turned this up....
I was sitting under a tree at the exit of turn 6 and saw the whole thing. He wasn't going that fast, got on the throttle too early and spun to the inside and hit the right front on the inside tire wall. It wasn't that hard of a hit. It was scarry to see the driver sitting there with his legs hanging out, totally exposed. I'm glad the corner workers got the rest of the cars slowed down. The driver was Federico Kroymans, the Ferrari and Maserati importer for the Netherlands, the car is a F399. He was able to get himself out of the car and limp around. He is tall and a bit overweight, so I wonder if they modified the monoque for him to fit. It was a clean break at the bulkhead where the steering wheel attaches. I didn't take any pictures, it seemed kinda sick to...

... so apparently it is real :?

I remember it being mentioned a few months ago, but the 'Marleboro' logo on the back, isn't that the same one we saw on that car made by the Indian brothers out of scrap metal? Seems fishy to me. Certainly the roll bar looks too low to be a real F1 car, but it might be, you never know.

A.F.A.I.K. this is true. I have seen the pics of the driver with his legs hanging out!!! shade sof Johhny Herberts accident. Roll hoop might look low because of the lack of camera.

I seriously doubt this was a genuine F1 car. The driver tub was constructed in two parts (for ease of construction) then bolted together. The entire nose is sheared off, yet the suspension arms seem relatively intact. This leads me to believe the suspension arms are not carbon fiber, but rather steel. The actual steering shaft where the wheel clips on appears to be just solid metal, missing the intricate coupling where a real F1 wheel attaches, with it's numerous electrical connections.
What's scary is that this wreck was most likely bolted back together, bent pieces replaced, and a fresh coat of paint applied to once again go out on track as what I consider an unsafe car.

In 2006 Ferrari were testing an invisible version... but the sponsors were against this idea...
