I mean, I know they're overweight. I know it doesn't help but is it THE problem? They also dropped weight by just replacing those 2 blocked louvers and 2 unblocked louvers with 3 flap panels and one smaller louver.

They are clearly behind Ferrari and Red bull and close to Mercedes although might actually fall behind them as well if they can sort out their aero stability issues.
"Insiders are confident" - interesting. No info abt A522 PU on your twitter so far:)Blackout wrote: ↑22 Mar 2022, 19:07That's based on nothing, so complete BS. And marca is the least reliable source on earth for this kind of infos. Insiders are confident and think they are very close to the top and say the PU is just not fully optimized yet regarding mapping etc.AR3-GP wrote: ↑22 Mar 2022, 18:19radosav wrote: ↑22 Mar 2022, 17:11Updates coming in Miami GP.
https://www.marca.com/motor/formula1/gp ... b45ef.htmlAnd the engine?
The new engine is offering good data in terms of top speeds on the main straight and sectors, but its performance must be placed between questions. It was clearly inferior to ferrari and Honda engines (these with serious reliability problems, as seen) and only appeared to be ahead of Mercedes customers. At this point it is speculated that from the matrix of the star they could choose a somewhat conservative map for everyone, seeing that Hamilton and Russell would not see the fifth and sixth in the race endangered and that it was the maximum without abandonments. Then came the final gift with the breakdowns of Verstappen and Checo Pérez.
Well no doubt they're lacking downforce. But as evident from the lap delta graph, even with higher DF (and therefore more drag), Ferrari and RB are pulling out more time on the full throttle sections, apart from the main straight where the drag limits the top speed. This was the case with Merc and RB last year as well compared to other teams where they were middle of the pack in terms of top speed and speed trap but on account of running much higher DF. I believe Haas was often topping the speed traps last year.diffuser wrote: ↑22 Mar 2022, 18:32peewon wrote: ↑22 Mar 2022, 17:22Check out the telemetry analysis of the PU done by username Juzh here...

It's Telemetry, not sure he knows how to read it ....But I love the link he gave us.
Like Is said there it clearily show we're lacking DF. I put a green dash/dot next toall the spots there was a diference in on throttle. Only once was in Alonso's favour.

At lower speeds there isn't a significant more drag but there is a signicant more time on full throttle. With less DF at 100KPH if the Alpine driver goes full throttle he spins the car. So has to wait till 120 or 140 KPH to go full throttle. By then the Ferrari is already at 180 KPH or more cause he put the pedal to the metal at 100KPH. BTW, those numbers are not from the graph. just an example for illustration. The throttle graphs do show a constant delay by alonso to get on the throttle when comapred to LeClerc.peewon wrote: ↑23 Mar 2022, 14:27Well no doubt they're lacking downforce.
