I agree with DR in race seat for next year, the team absolutely needs his consistent input to help fully judge its own performance, also believe he has still the competitive pace and quality to completely deserve being given that race seat.

This, for me, has nothing to do with LL in preference terms. A very good start to his F1 career, undoubtedly a very strong future I'm sure, but don't feel DR being turfed out is the right way to facilitate that. Preferably both will be on the grid next year.

Perez and Yuki are going to fight for the second seat in AM and Richardo could return to RB.
Maybe we could see a new rookie in Alpha Tauri by 2025.

I really agree with aspects of all the recent posts which have at the moment become "what about Liam Lawson?"
The situation, without becoming too invested in any particular outcome, poses a number of main questions;
1. Is Alpha Tauri truly a part of the RedBull academy escalator? It hasn't felt like it in recent seasons and 2024 does little to dispel that feeling. However, the 2024/25 picture may look like the escalator is being rebuilt if - DR goes to Red Bull and replaces a certain non-RB Academy driver, and the next RB Academy talent (Lawson) gets his AT (or whatever name) full-time chance having been well bedded into F1 culture. And will he quickly destroy Yuki?
2. Isn't there a danger that Lawson's 9th place at Singapore will be forgotten in a year's time as AT/TBN ostensibly start to score frequent top tens?
3. If DR really does discover his mojo in 2024 and demolishes Yuki (who at this point arguably looks only a moderate talent) that AT/TBN will be looking at a DR and Yuki double replacement for 2025? (answers question 2 above)

I am Kiwi/Aussie who got to know about the future talent of LL some years ago so have followed him as closely as tier two motorsport media has allowed! I can see good reasoning behind yesterday's announced signings, including Honda money, but I feel that maybe RB are continuing a negative trend with their Academy. Renault/Alpine have nothing to show for their own academy and the Piastri outcome since his debut, through to Suzuka qualifying, shows how conservative/inaccurate judging of available talent can leave very egg-splattered faces. Sorry Otmar and co, you're in good company!

Yeah.... but there's pluses and minuses. Will Horner and Marko allow him to walk, and even if so, will it be a one year deal only. What I'm reading in the media IVs of Horner and company is that they genuinely rate Liam and they have a serious LL development plan for him till the place becomes available in 2025. Liam would in this role be better than he was a year ago, AND allied to a bigger team that are dominating F1. Yes Vowles is doing an incredible job at Williams but now I have got over my Aussie/Kiwi disappointment I can see a good potential outcome for the 20 year old when he is 21 (to give it perspective).

Tsunoda is an absolutely useless pilot, the team is wasting time with him, he has not shown anything impressive in three years of performances, why give him another year is not clear.

That sponsor wants to see something in return.
Ricciardo who is always smiling and clowning around has a lot of followers and fans all over the world.
Liam is new so won't attract as many viewers. The new sponsor must have had a finger in the driver selection.
Ricciardo will just drive at SAT next season because they need him also for advertising and not at RBR.

Uuuhhh...sorry...but this is a stretch in assumptions based on nothing.
I am especially surprised by your take on sponsors/money...we know that for example Haas is running in nice plus each year....and AT did not pump more money into development or drivers. I do not see a money issue.

I think there are other things keeping Checo in the seat:
- You simply do not throw out the Nr.2 in WDC. They will keep him in the seat to secure this spot.
- They need to get points on AT. Although Lawson looks faster then Tsunoda, I would still put my bet on Ric/Tsu to get the necessary 10 points that may be enough to finish ahead of Haas and Alfa.
- Maybe there is a performance clause in his contract, but I doubt it pulls. Still it is better for both if they put him into spare role next year when sponsorship contracts are done.

Yeah it was one of Checo's worst performances - embarrassing. But there's a certain contract to deal with and Daniel is already confirmed at AT, nobody else (apart from Lawson) is around to fill the place even if they were of that mind. The die is set, it seems that even Sarg is safe in spite of the huge repair bills that are once again crippling Williams' spending cap.

He's 177 points behind Max, that is atrocious considering he's in the best car on the grid! He's finished.

Bottas was ever even close to being that bad in the Mercedes dominant years.
