Shame Lewis dnf'd, would have liked to see how the upgrade compared to the old spec, Russell's tires were so good they extended his stint by 10 laps

Honestly great job by George. That first stint was incredible. One stoppers usually never work at Cota but he really made it work today. More impressive than his Spa drive imo.

GR was putting in personal bests 39 laps into his hard stint.

Also, a stoopid reoccurrence bringing a heavily modified car to a sprint wkend. Merc need to cut that right out quick time

very good point actually. They rarely nail the setup at a sprint weekend. There correlation between data, sim and on track is not that great with limited running. Its been the case all year.

That’s the only takeaway that matters. Sure, every now and then, they can have a good session. But on the whole, they are alone in fourth with nobody near to chase and nobody near to fear.

Just racing because the schedule demands it of you.

That penalty was deserved. Why is he running the other guy off the track? He could have left a car width but he was probably wary of bottas defending the inside of the next corner. Calculated gamble imo and it paid off when you know you can pull 5 sec easily.

Toto also saying what Lewis said, that it was the car and not him, i agree as well, same spot where Russell crashed and Lewis was slowing down when it happened

Mercedes is in shambles, they just cannot figure out this car. At this rate, Lewis's move to Ferrari might be his second incredible decision
