Red Bull RB10 Renault

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

Oh there were amateurish Cut outs in Jerez and even Bahrain. But they sorted it Internally i think. Car ssems to be running better today.

Maybe the Problem wasn't that massive after all. It could be one little Part that was getting too hot. That combined with the Renault Probems added up.

"...and there, very much in flames, is Jacques Laffite's Ligier. That's obviously a turbo blaze, and of course, Laffite will be able to see that conflagration in his mirrors... he is coolly parking the car somewhere safe." Murray Walker, San Marino 1985

They're placing the thermal cameras inside the mirrors, pretty neat.

There's not even some amateurish cut-outs, nothing. It still looks launch spec. We were all assuming them to have totally different cooling solutions come Bahrain, but it never happened....
I think that was mostly RedBullshit ;) No team named their problems in the right way.
The problems with the batteries came from vibrations, not from heat. And even if they would come from heat we would not recognize modifications of the battery cooling underneath the fuel tank.
The hole in the bodywork was possibly for the heat sink of MGU H. This started burning but for me this was a good place: Below the exhaust where you can mount nothing else, right on the floor to keep COG low. With the new wastegate solution this should not happen anymore.

Source :?: And how could that effect burning mark from floor region from engine exhaust? Even then wastegate do just safe switch on top of turbo...

EDIT: i dont even belive that was burning marks from exhaust... Just aidet cooling for somesort electronic near engine bay...

I wonder, could the nose be designed to house a camera? Could even be one of those directional ones.

You mean the Nose Cone? No that would be illegal as the Camera Positioning is regulated this Year.

That W05 image isn't necessarily the engine cover they'll race. They've got several versions with much smaller exits, similar in size to the redbull photo.

Its ludicrous to think that they could just knock up a new rear end in the short time since the first test. They probably have to move components around altering the whole architecture of the rear. They have to design, test and then build a new solution. This takes a long time, it's not going to happen in the space of three - four weeks. Instead, they're trying to make do with what they've got while putting in the hours to develop a solution. That's how I read it, rather than stubbornness on Newey's part.

AMuS reports Smoke and the Noise of Fire Extinguishers from the RedBull Box. Not too promising given Ric was only out for a few laps.
