I can only assume you did not see the amount of rain that was coming down just after Q1? When they cut back to the presenters it was throwing it down

Two and a half hours until qualifying starts and it's raining again in Melbourne. This could be a long, long day

Another low pressure system moving in from the south west just like yesterday but not as large...ETA 2 hours - 10:40am :/
If someone said to me that you can have three wishes, my first would have been to get into racing, my second to be in Formula 1, my third to drive for Ferrari.

I woke up at 3am to watch FP3 and Quali, then had to go to work for 9am (which I was late for).

Now I'm sitting here waiting for quali to start at midnight, probably followed by an hour or two of sleep, then the race.

Please god, have sympathy on Formula 1 fan and let things go smoothly.

Grizzle our car has just left Crown Casino, we will be in the paddock in about 10 minutes. If you like I can PM you with updates from Herby Blash so you don't have a grumpy evening?

Heavy rain, wind, poor visibility (+the fact that it was dark because of the clouds and that is a "dirty" kind of darkness), debris brought by the wind on the track and the birds flying too close around the cars were dangerous conditions. Q1 was full of incidents and it was some kind of a mayhem on the track with some spinning, going off, front wings flying all over the place, dirt on the track etc.

People trashing the FIA for today's (because today I feel that they were actually right) decision are simply ridiculous and probably never did any racing apart from Play Station or Xbox.
well you clearly don't remember a time when F1 cars used to race in the wet, pre 2009.
but no, not anymore, can't let drivers use skill can we - can't have the danger of cars breaking because that would upset the sponsors wouldn't it?

sorry, this has been another example of teams wanting to protect their assets by not racing, its pathetic.
there have been plenty of times in the 00's and before where conditions have been bad and its up to the drivers how much they want to push. Thats like....part of their supposed skill.
Unless cars are literally aquaplaning at 50mph, then its fair enough (malaysia 2001).

Add that to the fact that now full wets are redundant in races, because it brings out a safety car until conditions are good enough for inters, and this 'motorsport' is turning into a joke.

Pity I can't vote this up. Well said

Just a heads up for the Americans. It looks like NBC Sports will be airing Q2/Q3 at 12:30am Eastern Time then going straight into their live broadcast of the race starting at 1:30am. I do not know if they will also be broadcasting qualifying live at 8pm Eastern Time.

Dilemma, I think we can impress (maybe even pole) in wet conditions, but otherwise I want to see the real pace in dry conditions...

#F1 Light rain has started. Track is wet again. Don't think it will dry completely till start of qualifying.
