The protruding monkey seat hardware really bugs me. Seems like they could've tried harder to make it flush or otherwise more blended.
Same story on their earlier one.

So the rear wing's endplates are completely new now. They also have a vertical slit near their leading edge.. like some other cars, but it's new for Lotus.
They applied some changes on the FW too

A bit of old news but interesting nonetheless, Lotus suffered from diffuser stalling in the Chinese GP. Obviously they've fixed it now, but I'll have a look back to see if diffuser updates visually show the difference from China to Spain..


Team owner Gerard Lopez said Grosjean would have been even more competitive in China but for a stalling issue with his car's diffuser.

"Romain had an issue with rear downforce stalling when we were aiming for P6 in qualifying, which is a bit more like it," Lopez told AUTOSPORT. "The car has the pace to be there.

"Before the gearbox issue he had the same stalling issues again in the race, so the car was difficult to drive, but I still think we could have done P9 or P10 even with that.

Are those to help with the flow exiting the turbine? It also looks like they run two waste gates unless one is for EGR?

Could it be from the wastegate, linking back into the main exhaust exit?

I edited mine, I meant waste gate. But do they run two, one on each side of the ICE or is one for something else?

Sorry for OT post, but similarities are there, only that lotus one is on the exhaust. I think it is simply a divice that cleans turbulant exhaust flow that comes out of the turbo?

Yes they seem to run two wastegates. The top pipe in that pic should be the right hand pipe in this pic IMO (not visible here).

But this is an old pic and Lotus has seemingly brought very different exhaust manifolds in Barcelona. (unfortunately we have no pics)
