Toto basically confirmed he must be replaced or the team will start going down inadvertently. McLaren, Aston and Ferrari aiming for wins, Toto wants to be in the mix...
Well if the season ends like last year, those others will look like clowns again. Will see
If the season starts like it ended last year Mercedes will be 4th best.
They finished second based on the 1st half of the season, they were some distance off third best by the end of the season...

Thats not ideal. I do guess a shakedown is limited in distance anyhow.

Are they planning on using the 200km allocation before the Bahrain test?

Fast or slow, at least the car doesn't look dogshit. It could look significantly better with more silver paint.

Moving the cockpit back by around 10cm still leaves it slightly further forward than that of the Red Bull, but as well as hopefully giving Hamilton a better sensitivity to what the rear of the car is doing, the greater distance between the front axle and the sidepods should allow better control of the airflow wake from the front wheels.

The cockpit repositioning has, however, allowed the undercut to be much smoother and less abrupt, which would be expected to better energise that crucial floor edge airflow. This is all in the service of optimising the flow through the underbody.
Hopefully that is significantly back enough to be in the comfort range of Lewis' prior great cars that it now allows him to become his normal championship goat self again.
Where is the quotation from? Allison?

Would be silly not to.

Sainz did a few laps on Tuesday and then did a bulk more today. I'd imagine the Mercedes crew would do the same.

If I'm not mistaken, it looks like there has been a Sky feature done at the shakedown:

A lot must be going through Lewis's mind during the car launch, and he does look visibly uncomfortable. It is as though a pair of Ferrari's eyes are now lurking around in Merc's garage, examining the new W15 innovation. Like what many punters have said, it is odd for Lewis to make such an announcement this early in the season, and now both Toto and Lewis have got to put on a face like business is as usual, while George looks visibly happy and excited about 2024.

Will be interesting to see how Toto manages his relationship with Lewis in 2024 and George will likely going to demand more from Merc to prioritize his race strategy over Lewis.

It's going to be a tough season for Lewis, if W15 is promising and quicker than Ferrari, he will start to question if he has made the Ferrari switch 1 year too early. If W15 is slow, 2024 will be another tough and long season because he is no longer part of Merc's plan for 2025 and W16.

It is so that Mercedes have time to find another driver, before contracts are signed.
