With Mclaren extending partnership with merc engine till 2030 I have a feeling that Merc may be looking to exit F1 as works team since their automotive segmeent are moving toward EV instead of ICE
Audi are only introducing EV models from 2026, which is also the year they enter F1. Go figure

You've misinterpreted the comment. What I mean is Audi will only launch new EV models from '26. Not that '26 is their first EV model. In other words, no more new petrol vehicles after '26, yet that is when they enter F1 with a petrol hybrid.

The point being Merc only launching EV models doesn't mean they won't be in F1.

merc is committed to f1 eith the McLaren deal
One doesn’t mean the other. Brackley and Brixworth are independent entities.

Yeah, I'd prefer he didn't have to, but anyways. The martyrdom called 2023 season is over tomorrow.

No rear grip for whatever reason.

Lewis said something was wrong with the car and Ant does think something was wrong with his car too when he went over his lap

Lewis and George have the same setup but for some reason Lewis is having balance issues

I think people should stop the broken record of saying, George sets up the car for quali and Lewis for race. It's not. It's just that Lewis' ability to race is higher with all that experience he has and understanding of tyres in racing conditions. George is not there yet in races and the experience would make him better in future. Lewis isn't getting younger and he is only going to get slower in qualifying against George. There will be weekends when Lewis might be faster, but on the whole, it's natural to expect George outqualifying Lewis.

Lewis has always set up the car for the race more than quali, not just compared to Russell? I thought I remember Bottas and others that have observed Lewis' procedures closely saying similarly: he will compromise his setup more than others in quali

I think where his real strength is in racecraft and tyre management. He tends to run much lower rear downforce than teammates and still keeps the tyres alive even while fighting other drivers

He said the setups are the same so I don’t think he’s setting up for the races. He’s just been in bad qualifying form. I’m surprised it ended up even in the head to head because it feels like Russell has been consistently quicker in the second half of the season. Watching his onboards his steering inputs don’t seem to be as smooth. He’s wrestling a lot compared to George.
