Alternately, I THINK the LH finish at Silverstone with flat front tyre to win just maybe have benefited from exactly this, passing the finish line while in pit entrance and taking a shorter run to that line, may have been a consideration if the second car was closer at that finish, thereby securing a win from the opposite circumstances to the MS scenario.
Everything has some consequence though, depending if a team is on the ball to spot something to leverage.
