Story about new chassis, new suspension, etc doesn't really add up with budget cap and focus on 2026.
It's similar-ish to Red Bull in 2021 imo. When you think the chance for a title is there, you have to go for it. The teams are so equally matched right now that a new chassis and suspension would help immeasurably in that fight. Plus, if the suspension is similar to the ones used in 2026, then that is knowledge gained which will help for that car as well.
But Merc's this year's performance shows that it would be a step back before it gives the fruits. If the results are not there within the first 5-6 races, championship would be gone already.

The enemy of the SF-24 is not bouncing but rather the softer tires that move the platforms too much in Q.
Ferrari 677 is changing the design of both suspensions, front and rear. The design of the frame will obviously change

so they finally gave up and going to switch to redbull style suspension?
Should’ve done it last year so they can get it working properly during this season, now, it will probably take the first 1/2 of the 2025 to understand how to set up the car.

Mercedes issues were not related to the suspension layout.

Aero wise is clear that the pull rod layout has benefits because Newey decided to go for it immediately in 2022.
I suspect that Ferrari wanted to shift from push to pull at the front already this year, but they didn't because they had to completely change the aero concept of the car within a BC scenario (which means you can't do everything).

Maybe Newey really is joining the team in which case the suspension won’t be an issue…

For what it is worth, the formu1a uno guys who are typically very reliable said that they think he's joining, or at least internally that is the expectation.

Newey has always changed suspensions layout mainly for aero performance. It's described very well in his book.

He also did it pretty much all the time when there was a regulation change that required very different bodywork.
Everyone ended up copying him after 2009 for example. :D

In this area he is just the best.

They are indeed reliable, but they’ve been wrong before, and most importantly Newey can still change his mind…

Newey has only signed an option with Ferrari, which is due to expire by the end of July.

Expected choice for Austria, but smaller than what I was rooting for  At least it's definitely bigger than last year's wing and about equal to RB's
Please help me understand :
from the pics, to me it looks like the RedBull mainplane has more spooning than the Ferrari and hence lesser load.

It means that, if what reported is true, Newey will have to tell Ferrari if he wants to join them or not by the end of July.

Photos aren't always taken from the same angle, both wings are their mid-load wings
And they call it a stall. A STALL!

I asked Donadoni on twitter for some clarification on the upgrades(I don't know Italian so I rely on translation services a lot for the articles). He said that the team expected to see a 5 tenths improvement, but only saw 3.5 tenths of it. There is one tenth they can gain from just optimization. So the 1.5 tenths they aren't seeing is related to the "problems" the car was born with.

hmm 3.5+1.5+1 = 6, when team expect 5.
mb problem cost 0.5, not 1.5?

The overall gain they could find is 6 tenths. They expected to see 5 tenths this weekend since they haven't fully optimized the upgrade yet. They only saw 3.5 tenths. Theoretically then, the max from the upgrades would be 4.5 tenths.

Rereading the article though, it seems that Donadoni says that the bouncing was the reason why all the gain was not shown. Duchessa said on his twitter earlier too that the team expects to have removed the bouncing for Austria, so maybe we see a 1.5 tenth gain just from that.

I find hes answer and cant get it "the missing tenth and a half should have already been seen on the track." why this mean that is not possible to get missing 1.5?
