I`m curious as to why you`d think they`d run them in free practise Manoah? Surely if they aren`t going to qualy/race with them then the data abtained from practice would only be valid if the same fundamentals were in place.
Surely Mercedes will want to spend as much time as possible getting the best set up without the use of the air gapped rear wheels!

Except the front tyres were the real problem in Mexico!

ferrari not deploying for the start of the lap probably up until drs point. Ric catches him from a long way back. Which begs the question, why wouldn't the renaults also save ERS power for the flying lap instead of relatively tiny gains from the start/finish line to T1?
Ferrari still at much higher top speed into T1, even though they don't deploy for half the straight. Renault's mapping must be all wrong, unless I'm missing something big.

Quite irrelevant. DR laps should never be used as representative. For those, one should look for at the other side of RBR garage.

This is not the race engine and not the race or Q map. So I think it is too early to make any conclusions on this.

Either Ricciardo, RBR or Renault are just not realising the waste of power it is using more ERS up the hill on such a long straight where your speed will be almost maxed out over the line either way, or that Renault is so weak that they have to accelerate hard all the way to the line from the bottom of the hill to even get to that what is quite pathetic speed. Though it certainly seemed from the RPMs later in the straight that Ricciardo had run out of ers juice.

All you can really say is Ferrari have their maps down and have figured out saving the power and having more for the hot lap is beneficial than maybe being 1-2mph faster at the end of the straight at the beginning of the hot lap.

Seems like a huge oversight from RBR/Renault though. I think RBR do their own maps though so would be on them most likely. Would be interesting to see a similar video of a Renault hotlap and see if they are closer to Ferrari or RBR in deployment.
