Williams FW42 speculation thread

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

It was quoted that Frank Williams made sure never to have any red on his cars again after the 98-99 disasters..

then again im pretty sure last year was one of the worst if not worst season ever
Three podium finishes per year ... sure it's a desaster compared to Williams 90-97 ... but now they would celebrate like hell if they finish a race Top 6

White and blue would be from Unilever, I'm guessing they're paying the most even though they arent the title sponsor, along with the nostalgia factor of the team being white and blue for so long.
White and blue are also fairly consistently Williams ‘team colours’ throughout the years. It’s the wrong kind of blue for my liking, which is a shame, but as mentioned it’ll have been chosen for sponsorship reasons which is income the team will need more than some kind of nostalgic tradition.

Poor Williams.. and I do mean poor. I just watched the Frank Williams documentary on Netflix and it's sad how they've fallen from the F1 god's graces. Good thing Kubica brings $$$ with him.
I red somewhere that Orlen deal is supposed to be worth arround 10 million. Rexona and Rokit have much bigger exposure, which means more money so i believe that they are not so poor after all. Ofcourse still far behind the big top three teams, but overall they should be confortably in the middle of the field in terms of money. If they want more, they will need results.

They were in far worse position in 2011, 2012 and 2013 that they are now. Back then they had no title sponsor and they still managed to survive.
Orlen has exposure on the back of the rear wing too.

Livery - colors are OK, sky blue is interesting, but paint scheme is horrible, especially those gradients... just ugly.

Paint scheme looks like they sort of tried to copy Mercedes', but left out all the details.

I also wonder who thought that blue sponsorship logos on blue was a good idea?

probably the same one that slapped 'dare to be different' on the rear crash structure

I can remeber just like yesterday that Frank was always wearing a blue sweather.
In 1998-1999 he was wearing a red sweather.

Hope for their sake those are some simplified renders and not representative of the actual car...

It looks rather undeveloped compared to the other 2019 cars we’ve seen. As an example, the rear wing endplate, the rest have got complex strakes etc going on, here it’s one solid piece. Similar situation with the bargeboard area.

Looks very similar to the worst car of 2018.

They probably add parts over the course of the season.

We’ve all seen how having a “really well developed” car worked out last year. This seems like a solid base to build on

The car in the Williams Facebook post looks like the FW41 to me.
