this thread has kinda died... I thought North Korea played suprisingly well, but that first brazilian goal was magnificent, so beautiful they could have ended the match there.

Suprise loss for Spain today

That's a real corker! I was told they were the favorits before the tournament. Not that I would know anything about it, but well done to the southern neighbors! =D> =D>

A big discount grocer in Switzerland has declared today a national discount day with everything 10% off, even the holes in the Emmentaler cheese today are discounted. 8)

Argentina were class, but the score line didnt really reflect the game.

There was another Argentine player who looked quite handy. I can't remember his name but it began with a T. He was almost too enthusiastic but darn good.

Real shame about South Africa looking like going out early. I think they will be the first host nation to go not get out of the group stages.

I was rooting for them. but they just don't deserve it.. They are missing a few key elements to how they attack. The African countries are just not attacking right, I think it has to do with their coaches. Everything else is fairly good but their sense of when to penetrate the other teams defense.

On the European side of things.. I don't know who I'm going to vote for now.. Maybe Germany.

South America.. Brazil for Sure!!

DeMichelis was relaxed, that was a nice slap to teach them not to relax even if winning easily. Cause of that the team suffered in the 2nd half before the 3-1 and final 4-1.

I would add Mascherano. Like almost 5s, his game is not a "looking" one but certainly fundamental.

Beyond that, wich are the teams that doesnt look "distinctly average" without their main stars?

Tevez. A pair of big bollocks.

Tevez! That was the guy. Darn good and I loved they way he never gave up even when he had lost the ball. Amazing!

And Mexico are beating France 2-0 after 78 mins. I am surprised at France.

Your are surprised by a team managed by Raymond "crystal ball" Domenech?
The guy leaves his team selection in the hands of a fortune teller!!!!
And no this isnt some undercover scoop, he went public just before the 2006 world cup.....only in France....

And fair play to mexico, they outplayed France big time. Special mention to Blanco, 37 years old and he banged a goal in.
The youngster Hernandez looks an exciting prospect too, Man Utd have snapped him up!
More could have been done.

I dont think Henry played any part in the french disaster.

I hear that the squad is split, and that Domenech may face a player revolt..... :o

Not just a player revolt. The entire country of France will want to send him to the guillotine, old school style.
