So it's indeed confirmed. The Spain upgrade introduced a significant amount of bouncing in high speed corners, which is also hard to predict.

This is a colossal disaster.

I guess they ran out of gains with higher tunnels and decided to risk it. And it didn't work, with current suspension anyway.

I am a little concerned about them rushing more parts for Silverstone. I don't want them to get into a cycle of half-baking upgrades but then just finding new issues because they didn't let them cook long enough.

Nothing is rushed for silverstone afaik. That was the original update timeframe and they are going to have the last bit of it. Maybe they add something for the suspension but unlikely to be big, changing suspension requires changing gearbox and more.

Cedric Sambardier, who worked as a Senior Composite Design Engineer at Red Bull for 2 years (and non-senior engineer for 5 years), is joining Ferrari starting from next week, according to his LinkedIn.

Sainz's exact words were "I see the team pushing back at home flat out to bring something to Silverstone that could help us in the high speed corners". To me this sounds like they're pushing it because of the issues seen in the past 2 weeks as they would not need to push flat out to bring something that was originally going to come at that time anyway. But I could be misunderstanding or he could've misspoken or any number of things, we'll see once we know what the upgrade actually entails.

The rear just couldn't take the corner at this speed.

He was going for P3, I don't blame him given the car and where it is.
With Charles magic i think p2 was possible, but unlucky today, car with bouncing rly hard to drive.
“I had a good qualifying. I managed to do three very clean laps,” said Sainz after qualifying.

He also said the car is very difficult to drive in high speed corners due to bouncing.
Leclerc wasn't unlucky. He just pushed way too hard in T4 thinking he could do it after a very good T1 and T3.

Actually the same speed as previous 1:05 lap.

I think that quote regards SQ.

The car is fundamentally just worse than the others at this point.

It is very clearly the 4th best car now. Disappointing progress, but really, most of it is that Mclaren and Mercedes both have taken fairly unexpectedly large leaps forwards. Mclaren themselves still don't seem to know why their Miami upgrade was so good.

Whatever the case, Ferrari dont seem to have the potential, understanding, and/or capability of improving to the same degree. Which is quite normal for Ferrari, but it's also an unusual situation in F1 that other teams near the front can improve so much. Ferrari are more like the norm here, while Mclaren and Mercedes have somehow both proved quite the exception, all within a short period of time.

As easy as it is to get disappointed with Ferrari, it's a very unique situation and one that we've pretty much never seen in F1 before. Not saying the feelings of disappointment aren't valid, we all feel that, but it's tough seeing Ferrari not have the same transformative upgrades that our other closest competitors have quite unpredictably had.

I don't think it's clear at all Ferrari are now 4th best.
It's clear they are struggling since their upgrades because they haven't exactly worked out, it's also clear that McLaren & Mercedes have made very good progress. It is however far from clear that Ferrari have dropped behind Mercedes.

To my eyes Ferrari haven't got the right setup yet which is logical imo.
Too many fundamental changes in so little time with little testing.
