Sorry, I didn’t actually follow his progress; I’m repeating what I heard in a pod.jumpingfish wrote: ↑05 Dec 2021, 18:09Did Perez run with a significant improvement before Max's crash? After the first try he was slower by 0.475s and that's a lot.214270 wrote: ↑05 Dec 2021, 18:01PER aborted his final run, VER was in the wall.jumpingfish wrote: ↑05 Dec 2021, 17:52So everyone is talking about Max, but why doesn't anyone notice how poorly Perez qualified? According to Verstappen, he saw 0.3s on the panel. Suppose he would decide to calmly slow down before the last turn. Let him be not 0.3s but 0.25s ahead of Hamilton at finish line. So Max is on pole and Perez is 0.862s behind. If Sergio could be only 0.2s slower than Max's best lap then he could start today ahead of the two Mercedes, helping his teammate. I suppose 2022 will be his last season for RB, if next year he is just as weak in qualifications and it is forced him to overcome difficulties in races due to poor starting positions (if RB builds a good car).
Completely agree. I’ve mentioned my concerns about t1 particularly quite a few times but on the evidence of the weekend so far the whole track has potential to cause a dreadful accident. At least at Baku for most of the track you can see in front of you for a distance. It feels like you could plough into something from only a few hundred yards away without any visual warning.InsaneX_Badger wrote: ↑05 Dec 2021, 18:09Looking at the F2 race, I just don't know, I have Baku and Singapore 2017 vibes to this track. To say I'm bricking it is an understatement.
I've pointed that yesterday in this thread, Mercedes and Lewis were influenced by more traffic than the RedBull, anyway we will never know. Lets just see how they will do the job today.El Scorchio wrote: ↑05 Dec 2021, 18:26Sky just replayed the two laps from Hamilton and Verstappen. Lots more traffic for Hamilton so I wonder if he could have gone faster with a cleaner racetrack.
I hope they are sure about that gearbox.wogx wrote: ↑05 Dec 2021, 18:40Items replaced on Verstappen car. No gearbox replacement, obviously.

Perez just doesn't like the handling of the car. He has no confidence in going near its limits. Just a whole bunch of late braking, and staying on the brakes too long for Perez, where you could see where Max brakes earlier, and just dabs the brakes and sails through the turns. I think Max just knows what the platform needs. He can feel the aero balance better than Perez. Granted, Perez is sublime on the throttle in low grip situations but that's not enough against Max.jumpingfish wrote: ↑05 Dec 2021, 17:52So everyone is talking about Max, but why doesn't anyone notice how poorly Perez qualified? I expect a red flag at some point...El Scorchio wrote: ↑05 Dec 2021, 18:25Completely agree. I don't think he would plan to do it, but if it was a possibility or pass of lose both cars, there is only one winner.
I feel the same way but ironically everytime I have felt that way this season so far... Nothing happenedEl Scorchio wrote: ↑05 Dec 2021, 19:29Very nervous about the first corner. Really hope everyone keeps their head and they all get through safely. I expect a fair few to have to take to the runoff areas.
