A spec series may also be a good avenue for their driver academy. Placing their drivers against another 20 somewhat equal cars where talent is more important than which car you are driving.
That’s why there is F2 and F3, with the added benefit of being relative close and competing with their peers.

Racecar engineering article on the 3-d printed halo/aeroscreen hoop. Not sure why F1 didn't do this so the hoop could be stock but less aerodynamically bluff.

the halo in F1 is a stock part, provided by the FIA. Nice that they are printed in Indycar, but don't see that one methode is better then the other.

It could be used to produce a nicer aerodynamic shape was all I was saying.

Each team would want its own design for aero purposes, wouldn't they? So you'd still end up with stick on fairings etc.
If you are more fortunate than others, build a larger table not a taller fence.

...have to say, that from a distance, the Indycar screen looks less obtrusive than the HALO. Up close, it is still an abortion. However, the screen could be easily improved with better blending into the body aftward...the HALO will always be a red-headed stepchild.

Texas was a very tough and high-risk (health and $) superspeedway oval with almost no practice. Any rookies that brought their cars home without damage performed excellent. The McLaren team was surely 100% happy with those results. They can attack the upcoming road courses with more aggression.

Texas, IMHO, is the hardest and most dangerous circuit on the calendar. "Happy"...I would assume they were ecstatic. This is an outfit that could not qualify for the 500 with one of the world's best drivers. Although I do not know about Askew...O'ward has proved his mettle. Mclaren should prove competitive this year.

At the Indy 500 they were with Carlin I thought? This year they are sponsoring Arrow Peterson (who switched from Honda to Chevy). Peterson is quite a good team, good midfielders with a few wins and a handful podiums.
