A violent crash during Saturday's qualifying session for the Indianapolis 500 had resulted in several fractures for Sebastian Bourdais. A small correction of oversteer sent him straight into the wall, badly damaging his car that immediately burst in flames as well.

the halo in F1 is a stock part, provided by the FIA. Texas was a very tough and high-risk (health and $) superspeedway oval with almost no practice. Any rookies that brought their cars home without damage performed excellent. The McLaren team was surely 100% happy with those results. They can attack the upcoming road courses with more aggression.
Texas, IMHO, is the hardest and most dangerous circuit on the calendar. "Happy"...I would assume they were ecstatic. This is an outfit that could not qualify for the 500 with one of the world's best drivers. Although I do not know about Askew...O'ward has proved his mettle. At the Indy 500 they were with Carlin I thought? This year they are sponsoring Arrow Peterson (who switched from Honda to Chevy).
