Doesn't sound that bad. Still almost 2 Weeks to go. I wouldn't worry too much.

McLaren has denied reports that have appeared (guess where) claiming that Jenson Button has sustained a leg injury while competing in a triathlon.
Contacted by Pitpass a McLaren spokesman said, "Jenson decided not to complete the Canary Islands triathlon, but he is fit and well and has, contrary to a few rogue media reports, no injuries of any kind. Indeed, he is driving in our simulator today and is looking forward to participating in the forthcoming Spanish Grand Prix."
It had been claimed that the 2009 world champion completed the swimming and cycling stages of the event in Fuerteventura without any problem but withdrew from the half-marathon with suspected muscle problems.

What to believe now? #-o
Were that reports "rogue" like Mclaren said, or Mclaren is hidding the problem. I looked on specialised webistes regarding muscular problems for the footballers, and I found that even the softer problem needs 2-3 weeks, stage 2 problems 3-6 weeks and stage 3 many months.

Just believe what you think is most trustworthy. A McLaren spokesman or 'specialist media reports'. Or wait another two weeks and see for yourself.

I'm to anxious to wait two weeks. I want to be sure that Jenson will be in Spain. :D

If he can drive in the simulator it may be not so serious, because here he has to use the legs.

I think Mclaren's problem is Jenson Button. He isn't able to provide a direction for the team on setup or development. When things go wrong, he is clueless.

I've never understood this in the past when people have said driver x is better than driver y because he is better at developing the car. The driver has no understanding of the design of the car or how different areas of development will improve/affect the car. All he does is describe what is happening during the lap e.g. understeer at turn 4, oversteer on exit of turn 9 etc, and even then most of those details will appear in the telemetry anyway. My point is surely every driver can describe what he feels in the car during a lap, so how can particular drivers be labeled a good development driver?

Yes but As you said they follow a development path based on the feedback given by the driver, so this could be one of the reason's McLaren go wrong? I don't believe this is McLaren's Problem, just think they are transition and need more designer's!

One of the reasons this is often mentioned is because of how drivers react to cars. Drivers are said to prefer cars that oversteer or under steer and therefore because of this preference their judgement is relative to what they prefer. Cars can be built to naturally under or oversteer (road cars have under steer designed into them) therefore if your driver likes/prefers/has better aptitude for say oversteer you can build a car to suit his preference and enhance his natural talent. Which should make the car faster. Of course the placebo effect could also be in play!?

There's only two variables that hard to predict, and absolutely 100% vital to your cars performance, and that's the driver being happy and confident with the car, and the tyres.

You develop a car around those two.

I agree.

Something as simple as cramp can cause even a professional athlete to pull out of a half marathon...especially if they have "I have to be fit for a Grand Prix in 2 weeks time" going through their head.
Favourite driver: Lando Norris
Favourite team: McLaren

Turned down the chance to meet Vettel at Silverstone in 2007. He was a test driver at the time and I didn't think it was worth queuing!! 🤦🏻‍♂️

your right - look at the fw camera's which are too low. But why on earth they put mp4-29 on the rear wing - why not put mp4-24..
