6th was best he could do, even without the ridiculous penalties. Mercedes was faster , as well as Haas on hard tyres.

He did his best to hold the McLaren at the start and give the Ferrari some headstart but Leclerc did a mistake. At least Sainz delivered.

47 points gap as it stands will be nip and tuck and at this rate it's possible it will not be enough. Remove 20s and some time lost with overtakes and Max is still ~35s off the lead and I think If norris doesn't choke quali yesterday he'd be sailing off in the distance today, so in a clean race he's 40-50s ahead. You just can't fight against that.

Norris did not choke, he just wasn't fast enough.

Qualification is a different thing that having a car preserving tyres better. He was outdone by Sainz and by Max who had a slower car.

Garbage performance from the car.
Max also terrible with two clown moves. They won't let them through now.

Well, that was terrible. Stupid driving from Max against Lando in the opening. 1st one I dont think was a penalty, the 2nd one was IMHO. Still not even going to try make excuses for that.

10points loss to Lando now. 48points in 4 races plus a sprint.

I did say 10points loss would be about where we wanted to be. But could have done more damage limitation.

Lets hope thats the worst of the remaining 4 races.

Home GP and somehow Checo managed to finish dead last! Dreadful performance…

Now that the Mexico GP is done and dusted…isn’t it time they got rid of him?? No way there’s even a remote chance of keeping this guy in 2025…

Why not sample Lawson in a Red Bull for the next 4 races…

disaster weekend in terms of points, and we have the engine penalty awaiting us in Brazil, not good
Silver lining. If Max didn't disrupt Norris, Norris could have won and Max would have finished 4th (13 points loss). As it ended, Norris came P2 and Max P6, so the loss is only 10 points.

Car is garbage though.
It was obvious Verstappen took those risk in a calculated manner and he succeeded.

Car looked decent on the medium. Do we have the same component for the next race or 1 softer? I also think temperatures dropped a bit futher which did not help either.

As AR3 pointed out without the crazy defence norris wins this and then points swing would be even higher. So actually it was damage limitation executed almost perfectly

Quite possibly. Ferrari's got a nice gap at the start with Lando stuck behind Max. I agree though.

How? I just don't see it, pace was terrible in second stint.

Yeah told you guys its gonna be extremely hard, I accepted this fact. That 47 points of a lead is a miracle,we have 4 races to go and Max has 2 races of a lead. Sainz saved us today, that we didnt lost more points. Hard to fight this, Lando gained 7 points in Singapore it was 52 points, Max gained 5 points back in Austin, gap 57 points . And now Lando gained 10 points, gap 47 points. Every weekend is a damage limitation in the last races.

We were solid on medium tyres and gained time to Mercedes, but felt apart on the hards. Even without the penalty Max would take maybe 2 more points today. Thats it.

Sprints could be positive like in Austin as the car is garbage on hard tyres but Max is still able to do well in qualifications.

All the worse. Mclaren was fastest there even last year, this year they will dominate singapore style, and ferrari will not be as fast on that track to mess with his race due to all the fast corners which they still do not like.

Not getting +20s added to the time would have been nice tbh.
