Lewis said he would of stayed out on the SS if he knew what was going on in the race, but he didn't due to radio complications. I don't no what pace or stint length Hamilton could of managed on the SS, he's been able to put in fast laps at the end stints in the past races. Having fresher tyres at end still would leave a big task to overtake on track. I feel he's lost some fire in his belly when it comes to overtaking. A contributing factor to that could be how any buttons and managing everything is needed compared to early years in his career. Or too used to driving away in the distance..

Nope. He's just a more mature driver that's all. Verstappen was racing for that piece of tarmac in front of him, Lewis is racing for the championship, and he knows it is a long game.

You can simply look at Verstappen. The pace was still worse than the Ferraris and the degradation on the Softs was much too low. I can not see any benefit of staying out. RedBull did it in order to wait for a Safety Car.

Yes. The point is simply that Ver killed all the action with his crash. This would have needed either aggressive strategy or aggressive driving to get Ham past one of the Bulls.

I was thinking about what I wrote after I posted and thought I would take more risks when I was ten years younger. I totally agree with what you said.

It's a shame that the field is so spread out. That sort of white knuckle racing that Vertsappen exudes is what we all want to see for sure. I think such racing works well at the early part of a championship of fairly equal cars... When you bin it this weekend, you will be fighting for the win the next.. and the next.. and the next. The formula we know now, just doesn't serve that sort of exciting driving. Guys saving tyres, fuel, engine life, gearbox, the car.. Ferrari even pulling apart turbos and rebuilding them for reuse! Man... not the racing I like, but what can I do?

Go watch Indycar, F2, F3 or any of the dozens of other spec series that have proliferated open-wheel racing.
F1 has always been prototype cars. Stop parading the current generation as uniquely the worst because it's not, it's just the same as ever.

Last year in Hungary Kimi should have given us great overtake on track you can't overtake, but Verstappen broke the rules, crashed, and got away with it.

Same thing happened to Vettel in Mexico.

I don't even want to talk about Spa.

Last race Lewis didn't want to risk overtake on Verstappen (which was smart move, much smarter than Lewis from couple of years ago).

I actually think RB should dump him for Carlos.

IF Lewis was really playing the long game he would have known he was never getting past either Ferrari and focused on a legitimate pass on his own, slower teammate, securing 3 crucial points.

Could you perhaps have forgotten that Verstappen is driving for Red Bull and not Toro Rosso anymore?
