Ferrari 150° Italia

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

I'm speaking about the performance of the car. This is not the thread to discuss the RRA.

No! This year they have the same resources as the other teams. Last year they had 300 more people. Big difference IMO.
We have to wait and see.
For some reason since 2008 (or even 2006 if we exclude 2007) Ferrari is on back foot in Australia compared to other tracks.

It's not looking good, in winter testing the car looked like it would be mixing it with the Red Bull, both teams looked to be way out infront. Now they seem to be behind McLaren?

At a guess both car and track are gentle on the tyres so they have issues getting heat into them.

Didn't alonso qualify on the hards? Wouldn't that compound his heat issue? :?

Nope, he used softs.

Was it just me or does the Ferrari seem to be lacking serious front end grip? The car just seemed to go forward in the turns with the drivers turning the wheel a lot more then you expected for the turns. Also alonso even seemed to use the DRS even sooner just to get around the corner better.

@wesley123 - it looked that way. If it's just down to tyre temperature then they should be in better shape in the race.

Nobody else seemed to have issues with tyre temperature?

And which car was rumoured to be the gentlest on its tyres?

I always thought Alonso preferred a stable rear, though he is able to adapt to most handling styles. An overly stable rear could cause understeer

I'm cautiously optimistic, based on their consistently quick times in P1 and P2, that Ferrari will see an improved pace during the race tomorrow. It could be that this year's car shares the traits of last year's car, which was a relative dog in qualifying that came alive with a full fuel load.

Our only hope is that they can pull off a two stopper...or a "one less than everyone else" stopper.

Even if it was an issue with getting heat into the tires, that doesnt necessarily mean that they will be able to run a set of softs for 20 laps.

There will be some that already doom and gloom the team even before the first race. I'll just say that i hope they can be competitive in the race. Given the new tires, qualifying may not be as crucial this year....but it remains to be seen.

Forza Ferrari!

i agree the F150 definately doesn;t have a front end like the mac and RB. I think this is a area which they may need more development. But to be honest the whole car is a conservative design. I think race pace wise they will be up-there with Mclaren.
