Ohoho... Norris and McLaren openly talking about 2024 title challenge... this should stirr up Max and Redbull. Game on. If the remaining 2024 races resemble anything close to 80% of the frenzy of 2021, I will be delighted.FittingMechanics wrote: ↑27 Jun 2024, 11:56They are very optimistic: ‘We can do it’ – Norris says he and McLaren ‘have what it takes’ to win the 2024 title

Reading the article it is not so clear that he is talking about the championship, he was just saying he could have won last two races but I think the expectations of being able to fight for wins is clear.

Amus was wrong.FittingMechanics wrote: ↑27 Jun 2024, 12:07It mentioned that McLaren is bringing some updates for Austria (floor, etc). Since it is deleted, maybe it was just a rumour.

In this case, we can confidently say that McLaren is already ready to become the first in pure speed and collect prizes and cups on every racing weekend.
Hakkinen also believes that McLaren will fight for victory in Austria.Tomsky wrote: ↑27 Jun 2024, 11:17Austria has a very long drs zone. McLaren's drs is not the most effective. It will be very difficult to qualify.mwillems wrote: ↑26 Jun 2024, 11:14Something that will play into the benefit of Mclaren is that most of the exits onto straights are from corners that will likely please the Mclaren more than Red Bull or Mercedes. The low and medium speeds of all but one entrance of the straight should give us an advantage in the first half of the straight, something you can often see in the telemetry at these kinds of exits.
However, some of the artifacts of the cars performance will also be down to setup. but Austria is not a complicated track and all the teams should be fine. But then again fine differences do count now. The Red Bull does seem very good in high speed corners but there are no high speed corners leading to straights here and they aren't that long either. Not that they gained much from them compared to us in Spain, but every little bit helps.

The top speed barely makes a difference to our lap time normally, personally I think we'll be fine here.Tomsky wrote: ↑27 Jun 2024, 11:17Austria has a very long drs zone.
