They did something now in s1, as the car looked better in the slow speed with better grip then in sprint qualy. Max had purple sector 1, maybe they put more downforce on the car. Starting p4 right behind Lando, I take that. Also he gained 5 points on him in the sprint race. We will see. A priority should be to fix the race pace and tyre-deg, even if sometimes we start a little bit behind. On most circuits qualy speed doesnt matter, because you can overtake. Race pace is the key.
100% sure they added downforce.
IIRC, SQ3 and Q3 almost similar time (diff only less than 0.5 tenths) - Q3 showed 3 tenths gained in S1, 0.5 tenths gained in S2 & 3.5 tenths lost in S3 ; over the SQ3 sector times.
That means straightline speed has been sacrificed for more lateral grip and better tyre life. Right call, I would say. That said, throwing away top speed in the two DRS zones is a risk, can get stuck behind someone, can get easily passed. But it's better than eating up tyres and risking getting passed by midfielders.
RB21 is simply not good enough - base performance is poorer than the 'big three'.
