Why should he? He got the position fair and square. It was Lando who made a mistake.

Whilst there is little chance of catching max it's far more likely lando would than oscar. Can always switch back at end after

Lando seems to be coasting along, using drs to top up his battery for a late charge perhaps.

Lando pretty much screwed his chance for a win at the sprint for not closing the inside line. Still I think 2 and 3 are good for us since we gained more points than Red Bull, Ferrari and Mercedes.

Lando will have another chance to get pole today and try again tomorrow.

Lando himself costed him the victory by not covering the inside. You know very well how Max is divebombing and can even send you out if needed. Nothing much gained. Max gained only 8 points and our drivers got 7 and 7 due to that fastest lap.

Norris has to use this year to improve his racecraft even more, study Max, gain some more victories cause he will get more victories and go full force next year. We can go for the Constructors this year since Perez is nowhere as long as we have both Mclarens in 2-3 at worst. Max can't outscore us alone.

I think that is unfair. Norris with DRS made a mistake by allowing VER the inside without the DRS. And then he was forced wide by Verstappen which allowed Piastri ahead.

Sure, maybe they could have swapped but for a potential gain of 1 point and a meaningless sprint victory, I think this is a good decision and was probably agreed before the race (no team orders).

Oscar cost the team by being a racer? Lando literally opened up the inside to Max Verstappen. The only driver who will always take advantage if you do that. Lando cost the sprint win for himself here. He had the pace to stay in front of Max had he kept the position after overtaking him.

Oscar did nothing wrong.

At least they're clear of Mercedes & Ferrari so no threats from behind. Hopefully with some tweaks today after practice they can eek out a little bit more performance and the others don't catch up.

At this point, he knows what is at stake. He was too eager and let Norris stuck on the dirty side of the track.

Had he been patient and smarter, it would have been a 1-2 for McLaren.

McLaren should start using team orders if they really want to fight for both championships.

Oscar is in the race too. It's not his job to wave his teammate past. Lando compromised his own race with some poor judgement, still learning.

One place where you shouldn't force team orders is a sprint. Points between positions are minimal and the "prestige" is non existant. Piastri earned this, Lando learned his lesson about Verstappen (I hope) and the team earned 13 points.

Either the car wasn't fast enough, which goes against everything that's being said, or Oscar wasn't fast enough when he got his chance.

When they said Oscar was being defensive with deployment, it showed his mindset. Which was disappointing.

I don't know if Lando could have taken the inside line because of the DRS overspeed, he might have locked more worse than Verstappen did. I agree with billamend, thats not a comment about Oscar being a number two. The correct thing would be to have allowed Lando to attack and correctly pass Verstappen and then follow Lando afterwards and or keep Verstappen under pressure and off Lando. DIfference between a 1-2 or at 1-3 at worst. I don't think Lando was trying too hard to get 2nd back, probably just hoping to force an error from Oscar and an easy pass and not to have to fight for it. I agree however in the sprint that team orders wouldn't make much sense. But in the times that Perez isn't there for Verstappen Oscar needs to play the team game and not just the Oscar game. Heck if he out qualifies Norris later and the roles are reversed then it should be expected to do the same.
