Ferrari F2012

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

Crucial! Where have you been all this while!

Indeed, what is that mysterious solution? I reckon there is something that we can't see.

Alonso seemed to be wrestling the car with the new updates (which he was a master of control) but we definitely weren't far behind in terms of race pace. Let's hope FP3 would be positive and that we will be close in terms of qualy.

The new diffuser appears to have a wider exit, with more horizontal expansion of the flow on the outer edge. Compare the width of the flat area on the outside of the tunnel section, and you can see it is much smaller on the new diffuser. There is also more outward curve visible inside the tunnel. This gets Ferrari closer to what most other teams are running in that area.

The exhaust ramp isn't new! if you go back to the Korean GP photos and Japanese GP photos you will see that it is the same!

+1. I can't tell the difference when comparing them side by side.

Now this again?

Please, for crying out loud, stop posting stuff that has been dealt with on multiple occations. We all know the Red Bull flexes more, yet no one cares(anymore)

Seems like the reason for Massa's woes must be him not using the new diffuser.

Spanish press reported on an interview with Pat Fry that Massa problem was a mistake on the set up

Yes its a separate unit, STR do the same, while it seems a bit more complicated, it makes access to the clutch and gearbox much easier. other teams have to remove inerters\Heave springs\ARBs to get at the transmission.

what about Sauber ? is that a trend for teams with Ferrari engine?

By the way, Ferrari seems to be developing car, but not better than Red Bull... I have still some hope, I think the main parts may be introduced in the next race, rather than this one, because it is very difficult to change some parts slightly after straightline testing, there were no time...

or I'm still simply too optimistic
