Aston Martin AMR22

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

I saw on F1TV with the front wing cam that AMR are running a flexi wing on the front like the big 3 are. As the car moves faster the front angle of attack drops.

The angle on the beam wing looks steep. Can't really compare and the angles can be miselading
Kind of weird that they spent all that money on the rear wing, that can be DRS'd, while avoiding reworking the beam wings all together. PUZZLING!

Car would have been much faster with one of the beam wings being flat and more normal rear wing.

They ALL move an obscene amount. I think the FIA look at it as a kind of Passive DRS that is helping overtaking, so they aren't stepping on it.

Not all, not convinced that Alpine and McLaren's front wings do that.

I wonder why they're slower than the top 3...πŸ€”πŸ€”πŸ€”

McL's does to some extent, the AM one does not appear to deflect any more than it did in Canada already

Explains why Mclarens got stuck in dev and didn't turn up with the latest package though. Sucks for both teams but I bet Aston knew it was likely.

Very nice shot of the AM22 brake calipers, noticed the machined fins for heat dissipation, as well as what should be openings for air ducting:
