What would the points standing be if Checo rightfully won that race? 11 points!! after 6 rounds.
I called it at the beginning of the season, but Checo has a good chance of being champion, if even by Max having bad luck and reliability issues.
Checo is very much in this championship fight. And it is sad that he is in a very strong position to challenge for it, yet he is not allowed to. There are no statistics this year so far that deems Checo unfit to be champion; if even by luck or consistency.

In Bahrain, Leclerc and Verstappen dumped their team mates behind and went after each other. Verstappen pulled moves on Leclerc, Perez none.
In Saudi, after SC, Verstappen was behind Leclerc and Perez was behind Sainz. Exact same situation for both. Verstappen pulled a move and won the race and Perez couldn't pull a move on Sainz.
Imola was same. Miami was same. To be a championship contender a driver should have proven cases of competency and Perez has none. Where is the objectivity in your analysis except the pathological dislike for Verstappen? On a day when Verstappen had car issues, Leclerc was out of race and Sainz having a horrible day, Perez was lucky to lead. Is that what you call Perez is fit for being a champion? There's isn't a single drive so far from Perez which is worthy of a championship contender, just like Sainz.
