Renault Sport Racing and McLaren Racing are pleased to announce they have agreed an engine supply partnership for the 2018, 2019 and 2020 seasons. The deal will see Renault Sport Racing supply McLaren with Formula 1 power units, while also establishing a close working relationship with McLaren’s engineers and technicians.

I really don't think they'll use this livery. Those white sponsors on the orange nose are barely visible. I really expect a livery change before the start at Albert Park.

In the launch photos, yes -- but in the Live Photos, the orange is much darker -- almost red...
I'm surprised at how many lay blame on the graphic design and not the paint. Lots of talk on the internet of the "backmarker" look, and I feel it's all down to the tacky, single-hue properties of the paints used.
Shadowed areas of the orange bits look brown, giving a sickly look. Highlight areas of the black bits barely register, something they avoided just fine last year by using the metallic graphite. The curves of the car are lost in the eyeball-poking contrast. Considering how purposefully devoid of detail the entire mid-section of the car is already, I wonder if this is a temp paint scheme intended to hide the actual aero bits come testing.
That last pic Thunders posted does a damn good job showing how great this livery could look with paint that accentuates body contours. But all that richness in the launch photos seems to come from red accent lighting (there's a lot of it), cameras' exposure settings, and metameric "color shift" errors.
WOW! Initially, I wasn't big fan of the livery. Now that I see it out on the flesh, it looks staggering and really aggressive ! I even like the lower white patch ! Awesome looking !
I do think it will look better once they get more sponsors on there. I think part of the reason it looks backmarker-ish to some people is that is is quite sponsor-lite at the moment.

Turned down the chance to meet Vettel at Silverstone in 2007. He was a test driver at the time and I didn't think it was worth queuing!! 🤦🏻♂️
Good news. He wouldn't lie if he wasn't, so initial impressions must be good. Then again, against last years cars these new ones would feel like a huge leap forward, so remain cautious. Can't wait to see them in action tomorrow!
Interesting to notice how the surfaces of the MCL32 are relatively smooth & simple, compared to the Mercedes. How do the two teams compare in terms of manpower & budgets?

All liveries have symbolic value, they're the outward expression of the car and the company that produced it. You cannot see the work that's gone into the engine from the outside (when the car is standing still that is), but you CAN see what it's wrapped in; the paint job is the physical embodiment of the standards and ideas of the rest of the team behind the car, and a gauge of the levels of expertise within the company.
To me this year's livery is a bit of a miss. I'm happy to see orange and understand what they're trying to do with the swooshing tick motif, but it hasn't really worked out. The back bumps over the car's natural shape and the lines sort of tail off as if they don't really know where it's going, as if it was made on a 2D render and then just painted on.
It doesn't speak of detail to me and doesn't feel like it harmonises with the car's designed curves, which overall isn't very confidence inspiring impression.
Having said that maybe it will grow on me. As everyone has said, "when it goes fast it will be sexy".
I disagree with everything you said, from the importance of a livery, right through to disliking the new livery.

1. The PU sounds more "normal" If one can use this term. More similar to other engines.
2. The filming day was ok and it seems that there is some relief in McLaren.
3. Alonso seemed to be happy with the PU and the car, not a serious test but its good to see him happy.
