So Mike Elliot rumored to go to Ferrari! Along with Sera and Hamilton probably! How the tables turn…

Where are all those clever theorists talking of “Hamilton wanted Elliot out of Mercedes”??

Now what? See how your theories don’t make any sense? =D>

The rumours come from motorsport Italy. They have about a 19% strike rate when it comes to stuff like this.

so they will announce new technical structure at Monza, i wonder why. unless it's someone BIG name
Isn't the Monza GP between August 30th and September 1st, while in theory Newey's future team cannot be announced until September... Is it just a coincidence?

Newey is a 5 letter name while Elliott is not. Unless you only count the "unique" ones and you are left with E-L-I-O-T, which would be 5 distinct letters in that case, while Newey would have 4... but this might be a stretch.

Remaining pieces of information were that Mister X was in gardening & wasn't Italian: both Newey and Elliott pass the requirements.

It has to be one of the two. Latest reports suggest Newey relations with Ferrari have cooled, so we'll see whether that is the case or instead everyone got fooled

Almost nobody at Ferrari that exists today, have the credibility of having built a championship winning car. They don't even have the experience of building championship winning team. Elliott comes from Mercedes where he was chief and head of aerodynamics for W04 to W12. 8 championship winning cars. He is a serious upgrade for Ferrari over everyone there, if he is joining.

But F1 team is not about 1 individual. If they don't have enough strength across the organisation, Elliott or even Newey can't do much to help build a winning car.

Newey can because he is much more than "just" an excellent engineer.

He didn't win anything from 2014 to 2020. Wonder why he never built his own engine.

But i wonder who has won the WDC since Honda made a good engine :D

Also, who won before 2014 starting from a clown like start up team that was known for parties and nothing more :D

So he did need an engine manufacturer! Now how about brakes and other parts? Does he design and manufacture brakes, batteries, hybrid electronics all by himself?
No he's a chassis specialist. However, your posts are still pointless, because no engineer can do everything at once. Aint enough time in the world.

Unless Ferrari changes their company culture, that aint happening. They're no longer a racing team that funds themselves by selling cars, they're a marketing company that sticks their brand on stuff to make money (which includes a roadcars, racecars, clothes, sunglasses, etc)

Nothing wrong with that per se, but priorities matter and it's quite depressing to see Ferrari going about two decades with no championships.

In the other side an Energy drinks company took the last 2 championships and goes for the 3nd so what you say is irrelevant how a team makes money with how the racing department works.

Harsh on Brawn
Brawn?

Anyway, the entire technical structure at Red Bull has been built under Newey guidance. We are talking about the only guy in F1 that has done the race engineer, performance engineer, chief designer, aerodynamicist, wind tunnel simulations, etc. There is no one else with his background, skills and capabilities. Whoever has Newey usually wins. That what history tell of us.

Of course, he can't fully compensate for a terrible engine. In 2018, 2019 and 2020 he still created chassis that won races on pure pace. No one would have been able to pull that off, probably.

On the other hand, Ferrari was able to not compete for the WDC/WCC in 2019 despite a much better engine than the competition
