He said he drove the P1 on the top gear test track and broke the record by 10s !?!?

I'm amazed to hear how nervous Ron's voice sounds in that clip. You'd think a man like that would take such a thing in his stride but he definitely sounds nervous...

Got to be careful making those boasts at the end Ron: it might be amazingly fast but the "sillyname" Ferrari isn't going to be a slouch. You might regret those claims by the end of this year...

Also, did anyone else notice how Lewis was edited out of McLaren history? They showed previous F1 champions, showing Emo, Hunt, Senna and Prost and then switched to Ron with a trophy, Button winning a race and then Perez. Lewis's title seemed to be replaced by Ron's smile. Ah well. How the politics of F1 move on...

That was pathetic I thought, he contributed far more to Mclaren than Button will ever do, yet you would think he never drove for the team or won a title for them.

Dennis has never been much of a public speaker. I've never really understood why so few CEO's are good at that stuff. You'd think that being a good public speaker was part and parcel of their success, but the Steve Jobs of the world seem to be fairly rare, even among entrepreneurs.

If the 10 second story is true, then I'll be amazed.

fastest road legal car at the moment on top gear is the Pagani Huayra (I'm not sure if i spelled it correctly) with a 1.13.somthing.... so if that did a 1.03.sthing then it is really really really fast!
the FXX only managed 1.10.7 in the hands of Schumacher IIRC..and that was on slicks

edit: the Lotus F1 car that someone can buy did it in 1.03.8 and the Renault F1 car did it in 59 seconds. That said we dont know how optimized the suspension setup and the aero balance was when those two cars did those times

In this weeks Autocar he is quoted as saying he beat, by 10sec, the time set by The Reasonably Priced Car. Now I very much doubt that that reflects accurately on the performance of the car, but rather the skill and committed-ness of the pilot!

haha not sure if you're joking but that can't be true, if the P1 lapped 10 seconds faster than the reasonably priced car it means the P1 would lap the top gear track in the same time as a Fiat 500 Abarth hahaha.

i hear that the Pagani Huayra may have cheated too by fitting racing slicks with hand cut grooves so if it did beat the Huayra its super impressive or maybe the P1 had slicks on too with is still super impressive lol.

if it beat the Huayra by 10 seconds it means that it equaled the time set by the Lotus T125
