Engines were designed with Mexico in mind. The race there was scheduled for 2014 already, it was removed from the calendar quite late. For some teams late enough to prevent them from reverting modifications they incorporated.

ok, I'll try to remember that
and, the ideal would be slightly less than compensating fully (with increased turbo rpm) for the lower atmospheric density
that lower density contributes directly about 1% more to PU power total and maybe another 2% to PU total via increased mgu-h recovery

I'm not understanding why people think they'll turn the engine down? What exactly do they have to loose now? If anything, I would expect them to run it on max power to give Nico the best chance to beat Seb.

It's nothing to do with refocusing for 2016. The race team have got to be there regardless and they have full control over the competitiveness of the car once it arrives at the track.

So, trying to work something out here - one of you will be able to assist.

Presume that as it's wet, the teams are going for a higher downforce setting, and therefore would be slower in a straight line... but water provides less friction so the cars would be going faster... is 350kph looking like a top speed?

Both ferraris top out pretty consistently at 345 kmh. Williams and mercedes at 350. Highest I've seen is massa at 353.

That is seriously quick. Is anybody able to provide the top speeds of the Manor cars running the 14 PU?

Wish I was watching this weekend but sadly I won't have a TV or home broadband for at least another week!
