Yeah, its too bad Johnny, that the regs have become so prescriptive,
& all machines must now run 4T fours of specified cylinder dimensions..
I recall seeing them 15 years ago, when there were 3s, 4s, 5s, (& 2Ts were still allowed!), it sounded great.
They are keeping competition alive by this way . You know, before the standart ecu Honda and Yamaha were unbeatable. Honda struggling at acceleration with standart ecu and still couldn't get good enough. Yamaha didn't suffer as much as Honda but last year and now they are struggling(I don't know why) . I think it would be easier for them if they could do everything themselves.
(ducati has a good power but when ducati using standart ecu and Honda and yamaha are not ducati can not go to pit after race with 5lt additional fuel)
As a way to stop the "class" distinction in F1, the Motogp Claiming Rule Teams had some great ideas that seemed wrong at the time but have worked.
In 2012 the MotoGP class saw the introduction of Claiming Rule Teams (CRT) to allow for participation by independent teams with lower budgets. CRTs were given twelve engines per rider, six more than the other teams and more fuel – 24 litres (5.3 imperial gallons) instead of 21 litres (4.6 imperial gallons) – but were subject to a factory team buying, or "claiming", their engines for €15,000, or €20,000 with the transmission.[19] The sport's governing body received applications from sixteen new teams looking to join the MotoGP class.[20]
