Yeah, its too bad Johnny, that the regs have become so prescriptive,
& all machines must now run 4T fours of specified cylinder dimensions..

I recall seeing them 15 years ago, when there were 3s, 4s, 5s, (& 2Ts were still allowed!), it sounded great.
They are keeping competition alive by this way . You know, before the standart ecu Honda and Yamaha were unbeatable. Honda struggling at acceleration with standart ecu and still couldn't get good enough. Yamaha didn't suffer as much as Honda but last year and now they are struggling(I don't know why) . I think it would be easier for them if they could do everything themselves.
(ducati has a good power but when ducati using standart ecu and Honda and yamaha are not ducati can not go to pit after race with 5lt additional fuel)

As a way to stop the "class" distinction in F1, the Motogp Claiming Rule Teams had some great ideas that seemed wrong at the time but have worked.

In 2012 the MotoGP class saw the introduction of Claiming Rule Teams (CRT) to allow for participation by independent teams with lower budgets. CRTs were given twelve engines per rider, six more than the other teams and more fuel – 24 litres (5.3 imperial gallons) instead of 21 litres (4.6 imperial gallons) – but were subject to a factory team buying, or "claiming", their engines for €15,000, or €20,000 with the transmission.[19] The sport's governing body received applications from sixteen new teams looking to join the MotoGP class.[20]

Reigning World Superbike champion Jonathan Rea believes he is unlikely to receive a MotoGP offer that would “tick all the boxes” and make the switch viable at this point in his career. The Northern Irishman has claimed three dominant WSBK titles on the trot since 2015, after switching from Honda to Kawasaki. His emergence as Superbikes' marquee rider has meant he has been frequently linked to a move to grand prix motorcycle racing, having already contested two MotoGP races back in 2012 as Casey Stoner's stand-in at the Repsol Honda works outfit.

Marc Marquez topped the second, mixed-weather MotoGP practice session at Termas de Rio Hondo, as championship leader Andrea Dovizioso ended up last.

The works Yamahas get another flogging showing their lack of confidence in their electronics by this -

It was a relative disaster for the Movistar Yamaha squad as wet weather again proves to be the M1’s undoing. Maverick Vinales and Valentino Rossi finished in ninth and 11th places respectively. Both were notified of other riders’ change to slicks but opted to stay out on wets, and were two seconds off the pace, give or take.

Splendid effort by Jack Miller to snare pole, shows he's got nerves of - Doohan calibre - steel!
"Well, we knocked the bastard off!"

Ed Hilary on being 1st to top Mt Everest,
(& 1st to do a surface traverse across Antarctica,
in good Kiwi style - riding a Massey Ferguson farm
tractor - with a few extemporised mod's to hack the task).

Miller did what we generally see from marquez. I like that headline " Miller was a passenger on slicks"

It was a good and strange race. I am MM93 fan but this race, I don't know what to say. He couldn't do clean overtakes.

Strange race, was there some info on this start? What was the reason for this grid?

Marquez' speed caught him out, combine speed, catching up from ride through and trickiness of turn 13, a recipe for disaster.
Zarco/Pedrosa wasn't that much different, only that Zarco managed to JUST put a wheel in front and Dani stood up

Marquez now needs to learn the hard way. He needs a ban. He does what he wants time and time again. Stalled on the grid, bump started it (illegal) , turned around are drove the bike in opposite direction (illegal) , retook his original place then started on the grid (illegal). Drove through Aleix Esp (illegal) . Drove Rossi off the track (illegal) .

In the end he lost a 5th place (about 12 pts)

A joke.

And that's after the shambles at the start!
