Wow, that doesn't look good at all. If GT3 cars can already inflict such damage to the tarmac, what happens when F1 cars run on it?
Two stroke: a little more than half the power, twice as often.

I was wondering about the new spec engine of Mercedes. Is it really coming to France? The above link through AMuS doesn't really say much - it could just as well be a re-iteration of what they already reported from Canada when Mercedes said "we couldn't bring it, it will debut in France". But I guess if the team principal press conference has already happened and nothing was mentioned, I guess the new spec engine has arrived (and if it hadn't, many would be quite vocal about it).

Unless Mercedes simply brought a spec#1 engine and labeled it as an upgraded one that really isn't?
Not for nothing, Rosberg's Championship is the only thing that lends credibility to Hamilton's recent success. Otherwise, he'd just be the guy who's had the best car. — bhall II

I´m getting confused.... Le Castellet?.... Paul Ricard?

This layout looks completely different to MotoGP´s Paul Ricard...

I´m surely missing something, what? :?:
The last motorcycle race in Paul Ricard was in 1999 (pre-MotoGP), and they used the short circuit:

In 1999? Wow, how time fly!

Thanks, yes now I see it :D

Smart move utilizing the extra day they have to continue dyno running before making the final call.

Looks like it's 50/50 at this point.

I don't know. It's a toss-up . . . but Hamilton seemed pretty positive/upbeat in his press conference. You can usually tell when he thinks the team is going to struggle.

It's Vettel's title to lose. Hamilton is seriously on the back foot.

I have a feeling Merc will eat everyone alive in the last sector. This track screams efficient aero.

28 years without a F1 race, and still the management of circuit will receive this race with a track in poor conditions. It is being reported that the track has been ripped up. So there will be plenty of different asphalt patches. I think this will not please any driver and won't be good for tyres. I really like the layout of the circuit, but i hoped it was in perfect conditions.
Good. Exactly what I want. Adversity.

And when exactly in this season did Mercedes demonstrate that they have the most efficient aero? Tire management is the name of the game for 2018 and is the deciding factor between Mercedes and Ferrari.....this is no longer 2014_2016 where the race winner was a foregone conclusion.

He's down 1 point heading into a triple header.

Last year Hamilton was down 14 points after the Hungarian Grand Prix, just before the summer break.

Way, way, way too early to make a statement like that, IMHO.

You don't understand, he both lost motivation and is distracted by new huge contract :D that can buy private jets and stuff, it's over indeed. I can't imagine statements like that are serious.

- I forgot this is a special tyres track, if Merc wins - here we go again.
- They lump next three tracks into a power label, maybe they are but they look very different to me.
