Mercedes W13

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

hmm render car is way more beautiful than the showcar. But as long as it slays the opposition, I'm fine with it.

Red bull's silverstone shot showed a very refined car at the back, reminiscent of old rbr cars
So red bull did do a shakedown at Silverstone? Is there a picture?

The rear lower suspension encasement is interesting. It looks like it will act to block air going over the top of the diffuser, but then maybe the rear arm is above and acts as a flap to help draw air through in conjunction with the beam wing. Would love a better look at this part of the car.

Tea Tray doesn't have the same feature (yet?) as the Ferrari and AMR22

Merc's floor is much flatter than the competition at this stage, it doesn't go "way down" then kicks up it has a rather smooth curvature.

Tiny sidepods (big inlets though) and a FW the has no inside loading, peculiar to say the least.

Strange that they had the same wavy floor on the W12 and then deleted it during the season.

I would say one of the more telling things on this car is how steep the front wing is. Looks like they have a lot of load on the front end which could imply they are getting strong downforce elsewhere as well.

They have pitot tubes already moulded into the floor, so I guess they are ready to shakedown pretty soon?

indeed, strange concerning the floor returning, maybe it was a test concept or they got it to work now? :wtf:

They are shaking it down today.

What if they turn up to the Barcelona test with a very different looking car? They did this in 2019 between the two tests.

Unlikely to be a different car in Barcelona. Maybe in Bahrain.

I feel it's unlikely as they are not familiar with this ruleset.
