We still haven't had any teasers from the car build.

I am choosing to believe this means they are hiding something big and we are going to get a 1-2 finish in every single race this year.

That must be it!
That’s the dream but I highly doubt it

The cost cap was very good for the sport, absolutetely. I mean just listen to the words of Brown in Abu Dhabi, McLaren wasn't financially healthy before the cap was introduced.

Just looked at numbers when they still had Honda money (2017), Mercedes nonetheless spent 100 millions more for the car (PU department not included). No wonder they won so many championships. If you do it right, with the right people, good infrastructure and the most money for development, the probability is high that you win...
But they didn't have the right people, and they got better literally the instant they did. Not because of money. Money was not the problem. It was a problem, but probably the smallest one.

I admire your optimism :). I too would like a 1-2 finish for every race!

Fire-up was at the end of January last year, so I'm guessing it won't be too long before we see it. Maybe they're keeping their cards close to their chest this year, chassis/aero-wise, due to the anticipated very tight margins at the front of the field this year?

The first time we'll see the actual 2025 car is when it rolls out of the pits during the preseason testing. Probably won't see all the bits on the car until FP1 at the opening race of the season.

Yeah, I agree. They will wait until the first day of the pre season test to reveal the car proper.

Until then I will hope for some blurry teasers later this month 🙏

I can't see that this was posted anywhere, so it must have slipped by.

Mclaren gained a new sponsor in December, Allwyn, who are a global lottery operator apparently. It suggests the sponsorship is quite prominent, so it isn't a small deal.

I assume it slipped by because it wasn't actually announced by McLaren and isn't on their website anywhere. Kinda strange. I wonder if they're waiting to make a bigger announcement.

True. Interestingly, Pavel Turek, Allwyns Chief Officer of CSR & Global Brand worked at Mclaren for quite a while, managing marketing relationships amongst other things.

And I realise now that these are "Scoops" suggesting Allwyn are "set" to become partners, and I wonder if someone just saw his resume and created this or someone somewhere knows their intention.

I think the original source is Sport Business, which is pretty reputable, so I would imagine it's accurate reporting that just hasn't been officially announced yet. Whereas the others stole Sport Business' reporting, and rather than crediting their scoop, have lied and claimed that McLaren announced it.

Yeah I noticed the source but had never heard of them before.
Watch this space then, feels like it is of reasonable significance financially if true.

Could possibly be the sponsor who replaces Darktrace on the rear wing like one member wondered.

Allwyn operate the national lottery in the UK for any non UK readers.

On a side note Oliver Turvey has left the team after 15 years to go to Williams

Analysing a single blurry frame for hours is the fun of it :D

No longer a partner of the team any longer
