I was actually thinking of that. OK, it's time to take it up a notch:

I think that, regardless of whom do Super Aguri hire (this is especially true for this season), they will never be able to improve the aerodynamics on their car.

Electronics Engineer

Formula One, being at the forefront of motor racing, involves hi-tech electronics, therefore an Electronics Engineer has a challenging and varied job. Included in this are the following:-

> Electronic design and development from:
- specification
- detailed hardware design and simulation
- component selection and procurement
- schematic capture and PCB layout
- assembly drawings
- test procedures
- commissioning.

> Embedded software development
> Electronic system / sensor / component selection and evaluation
> Development of in-house quality control / inspection / test procedures
> Harness design
> Hands-on assembly / test / calibration / fault-finding

Minimum qualification requirement is a degree in Electronics Engineering or related discipline (with Honours preferred).

Experience does not necessarily need to be in Formula One but 2 to 3 years experience in motorsport / military or automotive fields is preferred.

STR are based in Italy now.

Renault is based in England as well.

I am trying to get an internship / summer job in some F1 teams so i studied the locations closely

STR have always been based in Italy, in Faenza to be more precise. There have been quite a few rumours that the team could be moved over to Milton Keynes, England to line up with RBR.

Regarding a summer job with a F1 team I wish you all the luck in the world but I will tell you now that if you find a place it will be nothing short of a miricle. Formula 1 teams very rarely hand out summer jobs. I have applied for summer jobs at local F1 just like you but every time I recieve the same, standard reply. They are always too busy to accept another responsibility in an intern. The letters I recieved also made a point of secrecy and how taking on an intern could comprimise that.
Having said that, that could all just be an excuse to blow me off.

If I were you Ferrarigp, given you location, is look for a summer job at a local racing team. Working at a small team will give you alot more experience than working at any F1 team. I don't know many racing teams in the New York area but I do know that Dyson Racing (Porsche P2 ALMS team) are based in Poughkeepsie, NY. Dyason are meant to be a great bunch of guys and are a strong family based team. They would be a good team to apply to.

Sorry ferrarigp, having just read what I have just typed I realise that it seems very patrionising. I hope it hasn't caused offence. The words are also bassed on you being quite young, an impression I got from our last post. So again sorry about seeming so patronising (I'm certainly in no position to patronise) and for making an assumption about you.

you are right, i am quite young.
and dont worry, i dont expect to receive anything positive, but hey, if you dont try you can't expect anything back.
moreover, i dont want to have to live with regret, so at least, i know i will get negative answers ( and i would at least love to get answers

) but its like for the olympics, the important is to participate.

Regarding applying to teams your absolutely right. You should apply anyway regardless of what I said. The worst thing that could happen is that they turn you down, not the end of the world. I really hope you prove me wrong though, good luck.

The best way to get an internship is to find the name of the Head of Aerodynamics and then "guesstimate" his email address. Email him directly and flat out ask for a summer placement.

Believe me, it works.

What are industrial placements? In America, "internships" are typically 3-6 months, paid, and for upperclassmen undergraduate or graduate students. Is that essentially the same of industrial placements? Do these only occur during the summer in the UK? I'd like to find one, but I have an employment contract for the next 6 months with an American company.

If not, would you PM me the emails of any lead Aeros you were able to find? I've found names, but guessed their emails all incorrectly it appears!

BTW, I was not able to negotiate an acceptable starting date and had to turn down the offer. It would have been prohibitively difficult for me to start as early as they wanted me to.

"finding names", I'm guessing you've come across this little site, too: http://engineeringf1.free.fr/en/index.html ... just making sure. As far as I've observed during the past few years, it hasn't always been kept up to date very frequently, but lately I think it's been OK. I don't even know who's site it is, but at times I've found it to be a good reference when it comes to checking out how people actually got where they are. It's not an F1/motorsport employment site as such. Just a side note.
