When I first tried the wing-less car, in a 2015 test race, it didn't work out very well. But, after seeing TF recent achievements, I wanted to give it another go and, indeed, that bodywork layout immediately gave me great results, this time.

However, I had the time to test only two versions in total: the first one had great efficiency, the second one great cooling performance; I tried to put together in a rush the best of both worlds in the submitted car...not sure at all it's going to work, but I'm sure this is the least refined Variante car, which is a pity considering the potential.

I think this race I will be out of podium.

While assembling the car for the submission, I used an old release of the front wheels cover, that included a small not rule compliant detail (an hole that should be extended to a surface is simply blind).

This will cause a deserved penalty, because it happened in a previous race and it was classified as "minor" issue.

The only thing I can do is to recover points and to forget the poor figure is to win in Le Mans :)

I will go with my classical F1 style design, for two reasons:

1) Drivers prefer the central position of the heat exchangers (maybe the center of mass is influenced by the front hear exchangers) ;)
2) (Seriously) I am still convinced it is the best solution, also about efficiency. I will consider TF layout in 2017 (if the rules will allow smaller heat exchangers).

Sounds like good news for JJR.

There was no real feedback about delaying the next race, so I will go ahead with it. There was one very small and minor issue with the new post-processor which I was only able to fix an hour ago. I will decide on how much I will delay that race depending on how crazy compiling the tool for Windows will now turn out.

I have no problems for delaying the race. Its not like we sold tickets or anything :)

Well setting up the track in Le Mans takes a while, it is mostly public road.

No problem. It is ok for me, just let us know as soon as possible the new scheduling: one or two weeks more can be crucial if I have to decide between two possibile development directions.

Since Le Mans is a special race, I would also agree with a double points and finer mesh proposal

Hello guys, I have filled the form - albeit pretty incomplete since I've only the floor ready so far. When can I expect some kind of feedback?

What kind of feedback do you want? Assuming you are Unfair Design you got an email on the 06.10.2106. Also one with a password for the challenge page. Also you are in the list of people that get reminded to complete and submit their car. You never received an email? But to compete for the last race you will need more than a floor.

Some updates from my side:
It looks like you will not get results for the current race this Sunday. Both Chris and me as well have not been able to get our work done in time. With a lot of luck we might get it done until tomorrow but I would not count on it.
I will today try to finally release the new post-processor. There were more difficulties than expected. I have been seeing the end of the finishing line for a long time now and it always moves a bit backwards again.
The last race will definitely get delayed by at least one week. I will make a final decision on that as soon as you guys have the new tool and can run it.

That's not me. I used the name Idadox, last thursday, and didn't get anything. Didn't it go through?

I am quit overworked, I simply overlooked it. You should have now received your account data. I am hoping to release a new version of the software today, so you might want to wait with that until you are finished your first design. Also think about a team color or you might be racing a pink car.

OK, it seems as if my post-processor now works on that crazy OS you guys all like so much.
I will upload it tomorrow morning, now I need beer.

Important things first:
Image
Yes, we have a new winner! TF refined the design and put a new type of car on top. Also as CAEdevice picked up a penalty and went back to his beloved P4, JJR is only 7 points behind in the championship meaning that a victory in the last race could still get him the championship. The question is if it is time to copy the TF design. It took Variante back to the podium. More numbers can be found here:
